Volume 10. Chapter 97: Wasteful Killings, Then The Next Thing. (Chapter 998)

Chapter 97: Wasteful Killings, Then The Next Thing.

Like flying a car, most fighters always fail to forget how to fight. And in this regard, Celia was no different, despite how leisurely we’ve been living for the last hundred years. She was also okay with killing something, assuming it is a Monster, without batting an eye. However, there was one problem with this…

Celia: “Nope, still no Level up. I thought that Runey fixed the System…” She voiced with a tone of pure disappointment.

Mena: “Considering this… newly formed, mass Monster grave… I’d say that she must have missed something.” She said with a sigh.

Guanyu: “Perhaps… we should have her check it once more? It might be fixed in general, but your specific System is still broken in some manner.” She expressed with a tone of… nothing.

  Celia, Vulely, and Mena: “…”

True to what we expected, the Cultivator refused to let her thoughts get heard. With an absolutely unnecessary ornamental fan blocking her mouth, Guanyu spoke to us at a distance to where that… thought-leakage stopped being a thing, choosing to use Word Magic. I couldn’t add any tonal intention to what she says, as… Guanyu also wasn’t one to add flare to her words.

Let alone written words. Ah, right. Currently, we were in some random fantasy Dimension. Specifically, we found a Goblin nest, and Celia took to eradicating all Monsters present. It always seems to go back to Goblins…

Anyway, the looks from the (thankfully unraped) captives were entertaining enough to witness. This group were clearly just beginner adventurers, so seeing Higher Beings show up and… commit an emotionless slaughter is… as you’d guess, pretty shocking.

Vulely: “Hmm… I guess that she overworked herself, and did miss something in her fixes. Should we call Runey here, and…” My words were cut off.

Runey: “I said not to discredit my work, Vulely!” She exclaimed, appearing in front of me, before then flicking my head.

Vulely: “…” “What is up with Runey’s standards? I wasn’t the only one talking about her making a mistake!!!” I inwardly (this thought was added retroactively, so no one heard it. Hehehehe…) expressed with an upset tone.

Celia: “Runey, why can’t I gain any EXP?” She asked with a curious tone.

Runey: “To do the fix, I had to drastically lower how much EXP Higher Beings get. The lower the Level, the less EXP. So, with weaklings like these Goblins… you, of course, can’t get any EXP from slaughtering them.” She explained in reply, seeming to be (once more) quite tired.

Mena: “Eh??? Where could a Level 10,050,999 even find a Monster… which could give them EXP?!” She asked in complete disbelief.

Celia: “Mena, you’re right. That is… an issue.” She added with a concerned tone.

Runey: “Hm? Oh, maybe killing a God or Ancient Animal, etc. will work? Celia, knowing you, this isn’t going to be an actual roadblock for longer than a chapter or two. Just be you, Mom.” She advised with a smile, before vanishing.

  Celia: “…”

  Mena: “…”

  Guanyu: “…”

  Captive Adventurers: “…”

Vulely: “…How did she even hear what I said?” I asked with spiral eyes, my question going unanswered.
