Chapter 63: The Oriole Bird
Ryan's painting skills were just average, with sketching being slightly better. He set up his easel and ignored the crowd continuing to chat, took out colored pencils, and slowly sketched the lion from memory onto the draft.
"What's Ryan doing? I'm going to go see." Taylor took two small steps forward, about to walk towards the boy, when Natalie quickly picked her up and brought her back. "Taylor, don't bother Ryan, how about I play a game with you..."
Time passed minute by minute and second by second until the sky gradually darkened, when Ryan finally put down the pencil in his hand. Everyone saw that he had finished and they all gathered around him with a whoosh.
All that can be seen is a male lion on the painting paper, standing proudly with its long reddish-brown mane forming a somewhat unconventional pompadour. Even in a completely cartoonish style, it still conveys a sense of majesty and grandeur.
"This is Simba, how does it feel?" Ryan asked.
"This is so weird, it's different from what I saw at the zoo!" Tyler bit his finger.
"Dear, it seems you're going to be busy again." Nicole sighed. How could she not understand that this meant Ryan was about to start a new creation, which would last from one month to several months or even half a year.
Natalie rolled her eyes and looked away from the draft, saying, "Ryan, can't you be a bit more mature? You're clearly capable of creating something with more depth, so why do you always focus on children's themes?"
"Dear Nate, this is not a children's theme, I've said it before, it's just a different expression of the Prince's revenge story. Do you think Shakespeare's works have no connotation?" Ryan handed over the draft to George and began to refute. "This is not a children's theme, it's an all-ages theme, such works are more popular in the market."
"Mercenaries? Ryan, you're only eleven years old, but I can already smell the stench of copper on you!"
"Hey Nate, without money, art is just a withered yellow leaf floating on the surface of water!"
Nicola Lasswift handed the place over to the two quarrelsome guys, knowing that once these two started arguing, it would never end.
The life of a wild tour is happy and comfortable, even if occasionally quarreling with Natalie, it will not affect the mood of the crowd. There are no reporters and paparazzi here, no media coverage, let Ryan relax for a rare time. As for "The Lion King", now in 91 years, there is no hurry, besides, he doesn't plan to take on any film projects this year, one work like "Terminator 2" is enough, and the time is still sufficient.
Of course, if it weren't for a certain little devil's meddling, this life would be even more wonderful.
"Don't forget, Ryan, you still owe me two robins. I just heard them singing in the woods with Dad, and you have to help me catch them." Taylor tugged on the boy's sleeve, her words suddenly flowing more smoothly.
Ryan put away his violin with a defeated expression, shrugged his shoulders helplessly at Natalie and said, "The Hungarian Rhapsody will have to stop here for today, some other time."
"Alright then." Natalie sat on a low-hanging branch, stretching her small waist, "Compared to guitar, your violin skills are really bad."
"No way, I haven't practiced enough." Ryan shrugged, it was true, compared to professional-level guitar and piano, his violin skills were at best beginner level.
"Ryan!" Taylor probably felt ignored, suddenly pouting and welling up with tears.
"Don't cry!"
Ryan quickly picked up the little girl and said, "No problem, we'll go catch a nightingale right away!"
Damn bird! Ryan scratched his head hard, this was a protected area, what could he use to catch the bird, couldn't possibly bring a gun, right? George had a legal permit to carry a gun, but if he dared to touch it himself, Nicole Kidman would immediately take him back to Los Angeles and lock him in the villa for an entire summer.
However, this did not deter him, after all, he lived in a country full of diligence and wisdom in his previous life, and the innovative ability of laboring people was the greatest.
George snapped his fingers and after he came over, whispered a few words, Mr. Bodyguard took them back to the wooden house area, and soon bought the tools they needed.
"Will this work?" Natalie asked skeptically.
"Can you think of a better way?" Ryan looked at the bamboo basket and hemp rope in his hand, feeling a little helpless. It seemed that this thing could only be useful when it was freezing cold. I'm really crazy, almost driven mad by this little devil who always cries to show me.
Taylor, being carried by George, smiled with her eyes open and pointed randomly at the road, then returned to the small woods. Ryan listened carefully and indeed heard the sound of birds chirping. Whether it was a ghostly bird or not, only God knew.
Ryner found a relatively flat spot and set up the bamboo basket, sprinkling a fair amount of breadcrumbs underneath. He then retreated to the other side of a distant tree, holding onto the hemp rope.
"This method is too stupid." Natalie leaned against the tree, without giving him any face.
"Do you have a better way?" Ryan retorted. Natalie rolled her eyes but didn't say anything else.
This is indeed a stupid method, and the season is not suitable. Ten minutes passed, half an hour passed, although the chirping of birds around continued, but none of them were willing to fall into the net. Little Tyler's mouth over there started to pout again, as if he would cry at any moment.
I hate this stupid bird! Ryan muttered under his breath, eliciting a soft chuckle from Natalie beside him.
Perhaps it was God's mercy to the world, a black-backed yellow-breasted bird suddenly flew down from the tree and landed on the grass, its bean-sized eyes rolling around, as if checking out the surroundings.
"Ah~" Little Tyler obviously recognized the bird, pointing in that direction and was about to shout out loud, fortunately Ryan moved quickly, pounced beside her, and covered her little mouth.
"Shh..." Ryan raised his index finger to his lips, and indeed, a wagtail was right in front of them.
Everyone held their breath, like a thief stealing a well cover, and carefully stretched out half of their head to watch the magpie hop step by step closer to the bamboo basket.
Pull!
The sparrow couldn't resist the temptation of the bread crumbs and jumped under the bamboo basket, Natalie quickly reminded.
"Hmm"
Rui En gently pulled it, and the bamboo basket responded with a loud noise, trapping the nightingale underneath.
“yes~”
Ryan and Natalie high-fived, then ran over. He expertly reached under the wicker basket and grabbed out the bird. It was a typical adult Northern Mockingbird, about eight inches long. To prevent it from flying away, Ryan simply cut off a piece of twine and tied it around its leg.
"Mine! Mine! It's... mine!" Taylor scrambled down from George, and eagerly grasped the string that held the bird in his small hand.
The little girl was delighted and everyone else breathed a sigh of relief. Just as they had just left the small woods and hadn't yet reached their rented cabin, they encountered a big problem.
"Excuse me, sir, are you their guardian?" The staff member looked at the bird being pulled by the little girl and asked George in a bad tone, "Your behavior has already violated the park's regulations."
"What's wrong?" Nikki and others came over at this time. When they saw the bird that wanted to fly but couldn't, they involuntarily covered their foreheads at the same time.
The magpie isn't some rare bird species, if it were caught somewhere else nobody would care, but this is a national park, and this staff member looks like someone who takes things seriously, if he's also a member of some animal protection organization, that would be even more troublesome.
"Nicole... Miss Nicole Kidman?" The staff member suddenly changed his expression, "Are you Miss Kidman?"
It's just that he changed from an animal protection fighter to a brain-dead fan too quickly, so everyone couldn't adapt for a while. This guy was like a magic trick, pulling out a notebook and pen from his pocket and handing it over, but looking at the notebook, I don't know what it was originally used for.
"Are you Eric Larson? Okay." Nicole scribbled quickly on her pad, "Eric Larson, your sky will be as beautiful as Yosemite National Park."
"Can I have this bird now?"
"Of course." Nikki nodded.
"Don't...I won't!" Taylor said, refusing to give in no matter what, even as Mrs. Andrea pleaded with him nonstop. In the end, he had no choice but to forcibly untie the hemp rope.
"Waaah~" The girl's loud wailing shook the entire sky, leaving no peace.
Ryan quickly pulled Natalie away before anyone noticed, not saying anything else. Who knows if that little girl would come back to cause him trouble after she finished crying? Kids of this age are a privileged class, can't he just avoid them?
But I didn't expect that after returning to the wooden house, I saw an unexpected person.
"Paite?" Ryan was somewhat surprised, how did Agent Lady end up here?
"Oh, Ryan, your voice..." It's only been a week since they last met, but Paige Kingsley is clearly taken aback.
"Nothing." Ryan chuckled, his voice now a standard duck quack, which had been teased by Natalie for the past few days. "What happened? How did you end up chasing me here?"
"There are a few things." Kinsley glanced at Natalie, and after the boy indicated it was okay, continued, "The preparation for 'Pride of the Sea' is underway, Nicole needs to head back early, 'Bodyguard' has been finalized with Warner, and we need you and Nicole to sign off on it, also..."
She sighed, "Disney wants you to continue writing the script for 'Home Alone 2', James asked me to remind you not to forget to attend the premiere on Independence Day, and Johnson & Johnson wants you to be their spokesperson for children's bath products."
Ryan walked around the room and said, "Disney is trying to push it over there, don't worry, Patrick, tell them I'm focusing on writing an animated script, as for Johnson..."
He knocked his head and suddenly smiled, "You can talk to them first, the spokesperson can, but can't waste too much of my time. Tell them I can write a song specifically for their children's products, but it has to be after I go through puberty."
