  Chapter 13: Meetings

  Inside the main meeting room of The World Association of Magic headquarters, the top officials in the Association gather.

  A voice stood above the rest.

  “Hilvire Rolmand, a licensed ascendant tutor, has provided the information that he taught a young girl who could cast antimagic.

  More importantly, she recently called on him to show a new element she had been conjuring. Lightning.”

  Chatter filled the room.

  “The conjuring was confirmed by Rolmand himself. In fact, the display was done at around the Master level.

  We are here to discuss what to do with this 13 year old girl named Vespera Sol.”

  Comments began pouring in.

  “If this is true, then she has the potential to become an incredibly strong mage.

  I believe we should keep her happy in this Kingdom while still studying this new power.

  A new easiest transfiguration of mana could change how we power many machines.”

  “And how do you propose we get her to submit to testing willingly?”

  “It's simple, Vespera Sol comes from a poor family and is working as an adventurer. We can offer her money plus access to palace facilities just to make sure she accepts.

  Surely she will take that.”

  “I'll be the one to ask the obvious question. Of course Sol is a common last name but what if she is from the original Sol family?”

  “So what if she is? That lineage is so long it can't possibly have any of Sol's power still in it.”

  “Maybe, but it's possible she could have been simply lucky and born in Sol’s image.”

  More chatter.

  The voice above the rest cut through again.

  “In any case, can we all agree to ask Vespera to be tested in exchange for money and facility access?”

  There was wide agreement.

  “Then this meeting is finished.”
