A wizard creates a book that grants him all the knowledge and spells in the universe. Unfortunately, things don''''t go as planned. Several dead adventurers and destroyed planets later, someone screws up and adds the book to a newly integrated planet. It is found by a perfectly sane and ordinary miner who the book is unable to control because he is so sane and ordinary. Deciding not to destroy the perfectly sane and ordinary miner because that would leave the book laying around waiting for some other being to discover him, the book convinces the perfectly sane and ordinary miner to allow the book to accompany him as the perfectly sane and ordinary miner''''s familiar.
