Parlay with the Giants

The Beautiful Ruby glimmered like a blood stone, taking I carefully placed it in the sliver rod. Then using a small peen hammer I slowly shaped the claws of the scepter around it.

Well it definitely looked cool and the [Blessings of Blood] would come in handy later down the road as the puppets didn't fit either, and I think Anastasia was out to due to spiders not having blood. However back on earth it would be a valuable stat boost.

However with my crown, staff, and now scepter I was coming ready with some medieval monarch vibes. Or I was about to bust off a colony ship with a pet raccoon singing about gold.

'Kien, somethings changed, come to the situation room, Immediately' Anastasia said panicking, barely stopping myself from dropping my Brand new scepter I ran as fast I could to the planning room, barging into the room I saw Anastasia pacing back and forth across the table.

'What happened?' I asked her looking for any signs of damage.

'two wait no three things, first off the Yeti have stopped their patrols and the smaller settlements have reinforced, secondly the Ogres have consolidated all of their remaining numbers in their central stronghold, thirdly the Giants appear to have moved out of their stronghold and are coming in force in our general direction.' Anastasia blurted out as she looked over the topographical/political map.

'Okay the first two I expected, but the Giants moving is both unexpected and vexing.' I responded as I overlooked the map, and saw no extraordinary reason why they might move against us.

'Is their any signs of battle at their Fortress, maybe they were pushed out?' I asked her as I tried to piece it all together.

'No, and the odd thing is that they brought what appears to be adolescents though no really young ones' Anastasia added as the new information added.

'Might they be trying to join us?' Anastasia asked me and It was a possibility but it would be risky on their part, extremely so, and I don't even know if would accept them' I responded. I didn't know the full story but I had pieced together that the Giants had enslaved the Yeti. Slavery was not only a moral crime, it was a stupid economy to base something off of. However on the flip side I doubt the children had any say in the actions of their of forefathers, and in my book couldn't be help accountable for something outside their control.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

'Why? Having more [Geomancers] would be invaluable to have even if we have to leave them behind.' Anastasia asked, and either she hadn't figured out what had happened or spiders had a different view.

'Yes, however there's the long term consideration, they where slavers, and that type of behavior, being able to enforce that upon an intelligent species causes harm to both parties involved, although the enslaved is obviously worse off, the Slaverer isn't intact either, I'll be willing to accept those who are innocent but...' I trailed off, and if they were coming to join us then I would have to make that plainly clear.

'however more likely is that they come to battle us and couldn't protect the fort and attack at the same time with their low numbers' I explained.

'hmm, alright how about the other factions?' Anastasia asked me pointing at the Ogres and the Yeti.

'The Ogres just made themselves one juicy target, and the Yeti, well we'll have to see, however more importantly I think we should make a battle plan, with the consideration that I won't be able to use [Geomancy] as I'll have to focus on interrupting theirs and there's no guarantee that I could do even that. I said and we began to plan out where army would assemble.

'we have those wooden spears from the Draugur lands, they shouldn't be able to manipulate those' Anastasia pointed out, and I agreed, we could do that to distract and possibly cut down their numbers.

Together we drafted out the plans of battle, luckily we had plenty of experience driving off besieging forces. With everything planned out we had some time before they appeared so we began to set up the actual puppets in order to be ready. We created boulders to through in case I could knock out their [Geomancy] for the Ogre puppets to throw. I spent the remainder of my time shaping the Yeti armor into chunks of Iron for the Elites to lob at the Giants.

They soon came like moving towers in the fog of only black night. Their skin a deep pale color, with long beards and draped in chainmail. Large hammers at their sides, straight out of myth, as they loomed closer I saw that their eyes bespoke of a kind of stubborn rigidness.

The tallest amgost them bore a white flag standing stalwart against the surrounding darkness.

"HAIL CHALLENGER SUMMONED BY THE SYSTEM, WE WISH TO PARLAY" the Voice boomed out as the Giant slammed its staff into the ground.

"UPON WHAT CONDITIONS?" I shouted back, as I didn't know if their views of what a parlay was, were the same as mine.

"NEITHER OF US SHALL HARM OR MAKE ACTIONS TO ATTACK DURING THE PARLAY" The Giant shouted back and seeing as it was I responded.

"I AGREE THAN!" I shouted to them, and departed down the slope of the ruins to the Giants, as a subtle power move I summoned a table from the ground. The lead giant raised their eyebrow in mild curiosity.

As I came up the lead giant sat down, and looked down at me, quite literally

"May I ask you what you wished to be called, Slivered-One?" The Giant asked me.

"Kien, Daemon of Protection and The Depths, at your acquaintance" I said introducing myself.

"Kien is a strong name, my name is King Hkjalk of the Giants, though as you can see I'm not the king of much" Hkjalk identified himself before pointing to his band of remaining warriors.

"How big was your Kingdom at its a hay-day?" I asked curiously.

"Roughly 35,000 thousand" the Giant King Responded sadly.

"First off, why are you here?" I asked the Giant King, trying to clarify the circumstances.

"We are here, to decide our future" the King replied like it was a simple matter.

"And what if your best case scenario?" I asked Hkjalk

"Our best case scenario is that you decide to save all of us" the Giant responded honestly.

"From what exactly, I can't spare you and let you be" I responded as I also being truthful, I had to kill all of them in order to reduce maintenance.

"Many generations ago when my seven times grandfather was still young and of this world we had a great seer borne to our peoples, she saw the truth, she saw how small our world was, I know that we are mere pawns in a tutorial, but I also know that you can ally or subjugate one people group per a 'level" the Giant King explained, and it was fascinating, I wondered if this was a common occurrence.

"So why ask to be subjugated, why not offer an alliance" I asked probing trying to find out as much as possible.

"Because our people need a new home on the outside, an alliance wont cut it, my people are so few in number that in naught but five generations we will be so inbred we would become stupider than an Ogre!" The Giant laughed.

"Hmm, now tell me what happened to your empire?" I asked changing the subject.

"Kaibos happened, that's what, now I won't defend what we did but I do ask that you let .e explain?" Hkjalk asked and nodding he continued.

"We were already old by the time the Yeti became sapient, what was nothing more then a Species of trash diggers became intelligent, slavery had already existed in our empire though we did it to ourselves, however the Yeti, the Yeti could practically multiply themselves, compared to us at least, this caused by grandfather to enslave them, and soon it became commonplace, eventually they outnumbered us nearly a hundred to one, however these caves could only support so much life, and eventually they began to starve, their lords not caring as they ate several fold what it took them, eventually Kaibos who was once a humble laborer snapped when his son died in his arms, he led his people in rebellion against us, the first time he was defeated he went into retreat, the second time we had imprisoned him to prevent martyrdom, and thirdly succeeded, what had once been a fight over food became a one of independence, In the meantime the Ogres evolved." The King gave his long winded explanation.

"So let me get this straight, yeti evolved, you enslaved them, and then the Caves grew to populated, and then they rebelled because they were starving?" I summed it up and looking up at the Giant.

"Essentially though a fair few were absolute monsters to them, and the few sympathizers they had either died in the aftermath or their loved ones did and they stopped being such, though I'll be the first to admit that we where in the wrong" the Giant admitted.

"Okay, and now how does this circle back be because I'm not about to save a bunch of slavers" I responded.

We figured as much from what Elder-Seer, saw, and so I propose an alternative"
