Receiving the request with a curt nod, my Bloodborn’s body quickly converted to its mist-like state before flowing out the door using the cracks. Looks like I need to strengthen the seal on the door.
Now that it had left, I checked the time, several hours had passed since I started, and it was already 4 pm. I'm too tired to continue with anything important but the cultivation stuff was sorted for now. I learned a few things in the process but it's going to take some time to get used to these.
Since I missed lunch, it was time for an early dinner, heading into the kitchen, I opened the fridge door using one of the blood tentacles and grabbed one of the rge bento boxes that were stored inside. I brought it over to the table before activating a heating feature for its contents. Waiting a few minutes before I started eating. While I ate, there was a lot left to think about.
“Do I even want to continue college?” This was a question I couldn’t answer right now. With my ability, I had no reason to continue, I wouldn't need a job or money. I only went after Mom threatened me since all the coaxing failed.
I saw it as a waste. That was the main reason I didn’t want to go.
Even before all of this, degrees were losing their value. Companies weren't hiring based on degrees but absurd and unrealistic requirements. Sure, a degree might help but it didn't ensure anything. And the degree I chose wasn't worth much...
My ability is an infinite printer capable of producing any item - Not just the real but the unreal, which is dangerous if used indiscriminately. I could do just about anything with the right item. Immortality let alone neigh omnipotence is just an image away. If I get discovered there’s no telling the number of issues that would cause. Besides people aiming to kidnap me for their gain, it's valuable enough to start wars over. Who knows what other abilities are out there?
While I could take out things that could protect me absolutely, I can't help but feel like it would destroy any enjoyment that came with exploring at my own pace. (Nobody wants to py a game on Godmode). And I would also have to protect my family.
If I wanted to grow on my own, it would take time. For cultivation, I could try some of those mystic resources but I’m probably not strong enough to use them to any degree of efficiency (0.001%). They might help speed things up or they could just kill me. Most pills require a certain level to be able to be used efficiently or even at all in some cases (you can take the pill, but nothing will happen). My only real method is to continue slowly at my own pace. Figuring things out as I go.
Bringing the empty bento box to the kitchen sink, "Since they sent me an email, I should be getting a call from my adviser sometime soon." I guess I'll think about it until then.
Sitting back down on the couch, I looked over at my ptop. "I guess I should start that." It was something I should have started a while ago; Opening Word I started writing.
Name: _
This was about as far as I got for the first several minutes. I couldn’t think of anything as I stared at the white background. After leaving the curser there for a few more minutes I gave up. “I’m not good with names,” so, I’ll leave it bnk for now.
Application: Pressing skin against a medium _
I was about to continue before I got a thought, "Would my blood work now?" Opening one of the images on the desktop, I found that my new tentacle-like blood limbs passed through the screen on an applicable image (though I didn't exactly feel it this way).
Once this test was finished, I tried reabsorbing the tentacles back into my arm. Aside from feeling the adjacent veins budging as the blood reentered my veins, everything seemed fine. (While I didn't feel anything strange or uncomfortable I am still concerned about the crystals). Once everything was back inside, I sealed the opening using some of the remaining potion.
Returning to the document; Application: Directly touching a medium with any part of my body.
Usage: Touching Images or Mediums that dispy images. By touching a medium the surface changes, appearing in a wave pattern simir to a water droplet falling onto a serene pool. The feeling is simir to the sensation of a wall of saran wrap as I push through a strange membrane. This sensation changes slightly depending on the medium.
Really, I don’t quite understand how this works, I guess it would make sense for it to work with a photo or a drawing, an image that can be held in your hand. But the fact that this image can be digitized and stored on a computer as data and still be used identically through a screen still boggles my mind.
Many things are applicable to this affected, from ordinary photos taken by a camera to an artist's drawings. This also included Manga and various Comics, Video Games were also subject to the effects, from 2D to 3D, and many different formats, though they come with some caveats.
Typically, I use a computer screen or my ftscreen TV when messing around with my ability, but I can also use a Tablet, Photos, Paintings, even Bnkets, and Carpets (if they have an applicable design). Just about any medium seems to work if it fits the requirements, even clothing (much to my chagrin).
On The Other Side: Obviously, the other side of an image is what it dispys but from my uses (so far) there are some oddities. For example, if you take a picture of a room, the other side of that image might contain just the inside of that one room, or it might encompass the entire building.
I have found that open doors are key in this determination to ensure this rger range. To go further the image must have a view outside of the room itself like a window.
I believe this is the reason why the door in my operating room doesn’t open; my current hypothesis is due to the |Self-Contained| nature of the image. The Intent of the picture was to show a clean hospital room; therefore, that is what is presented on the other side. I believe this is also the same reason why the photographer taking the photo doesn’t (Always) appear on the other side either.
While I have tested a few mediums I have tried to avoid fully entering Images not from the Real World. As for my discoveries from my current exploration, generally, a sizable area around the camera is captured and contained retively perfectly, people inside these images act as they would normally, and if entering an older image, they function like a time capsule with everything you would expect.
However, in cases like the boxed room phenomenon if the background seen outside the house is unclear or otherwise nonspecific this area outside the house can be completely random even using the same image. Land features like a grassy hill, small mountain(s), or a desert appear spanning into the horizon. While these features seem to happen randomly, they usually appear in retion to where the photo was taken.
I cannot help but feel that this strange mechanic is simir to Random World Generation found in games. As for an endpoint; there should be one somewhere. I just don’t want to bother trekking for it, I assume it would be somewhere at the end of the horizon (in the middle of nowhere).
Camera: The Camera acts as the Point of Reference or the Focal Point when I interact with an image.
All interactions made through my ability are made through the Point of Reference. Because of this, the camera acts as the Entrance and Exit point in images where it is contained. So far, the camera or focal point cannot be changed/moved within an image (This might change if I can somehow control my ability better).Because a picture being taken has a cameraman, under logical circumstances, if you were to view it from the inside; you Should see the cameraman taking the picture. My current theory why the cameraman doesn't always appear inside is because; they are not the focus.
If they make noise in a video or their hand/finger appears in the frame, then they are guaranteed to appear on the other side.
Restrictions: The general restrictions I have found are, a Minimal Requirement of Detail, and I cannot enter an image that already contains me. While the dder feels almost self-expnatory the first requires expnation; say you draw a line on a piece of paper, would you expect to pull it from the page? It's just a line there is nothing else to it. Therefore, a minimal requirement of ‘Enough detail’ is necessary for my ability to activate, and while I don't currently know what 'Enough detail' means exactly, I should find out eventually.
Another restriction I have found is my ability Does not work on pixel art. Images from 8-bit, 16-bit (and some 32-bit) games are unaffected by the ability. I believe there to be a minimum size requirement, But I am uncertain whether this has to do with the pixel art itself or something to do with size. I am also unsure if the reason is due to minimal detail or if the dispyed image is too small for me to interact with (Even if the pixels are scaled up on modern hardware).
This leads to the st restriction, the Size of The Medium. The size of a medium is also important when interacting with them, (which might tie into why pixel art doesn't work). What would happen if I tried to reach inside to grab something, but the item was bigger than the medium?
For example, if you tried to remove a rge gss of water from a Poroid photo, If you tried to pull it out, you would hit the edge of the medium and wouldn’t be able to remove the item. However, if you turn the gss, it can be removed easily. This method however will not work on rger items as such you will need a rger medium corresponding to the increase in the size of the object you want to remove. Or you can find another way to remove the object through other means. My current method is to use item bags as the inside is far rger than the outside.
Items I cannot remove: I have yet to find a specific item that I cannot remove. – This is highly likely to change.
Because I haven’t used my ability on Godly/Divine items there's a chance these items would be prevented from leaving their home. With that being said, I don’t think this alone would prevent them from being taken. It’s more likely that these items derived from a divine energy source will cease to function just like magical items do in the real world.
Instead, I think items that are a part of a world’s continuation/essential to its existence cannot be removed. They are intrinsic to that world’s universe and cannot be separated. Take for example a book of life that catalogs the lives of every person in that world. What would happen if it was removed? It’s possible that removing such an item would cause the world it is a part of to start breaking down.
A couple more hours passed as I typed. "Am I forgetting anything else?" I asked myself while looking over the current document. I couldn't help but sigh after rereading it, correcting and fixing errors along the way.
Looking back over it, I realized I had completely forgotten about the screen that appears when I enter an image. That would need a section of its own as well as a name. I would also need more sections for Time and Data let alone a Mediums section, which I would need to spend some time on. This st part requires a section on Magic Items. And I need a section on Otherworlds... This thing was barely even started! "Haa~ At least I got the basics and got it started"...
I need to investigate each section; I’m missing a lot of small details. Then there were the little things I didn't fully understand. "I wonder if there's anything peculiar about Art Styles? And that weird world-generation thing?" (is it a bug or a feature?) I should take a look sometime.
Scrolling to the bottom of the document I started adding a section for notes and things I should test ter.
Notes:
Items taken from anywhere are transpnted into an image with an Art Style they take on the same technique/style as any other thing contained within the image.
If I connected two different mediums with different art styles what happens? What happens to an object in the middle of coming out of the screen if said screen gets turned off?
Either the object returns to the screen or is ejected from it.Or it gets cut in half brutally.Do captions work?
Maybe?Keeping the door open? _
As I finished typing the st question, "Doesn't that one work"?
