As I kneeled before the wolf, I realized the key difference between Yūsuī and his "prototype".
It was the softness in his eyes as he looked at me, the bond between us humming, on both sides, with the claim of packpackpack-mine-family.
'Ah. I've missed this... I love our bond with Sin. But by Fool, a pack bond, we have a pack bond again.'
A hand petted Yūsuī's face as the other played with the newly redecorated card, "Well than beautiful, what can you do?"
Background: Yūsuī is created with the
And, though he was created from things of resentment and frost, Yūsuī has taken more after his base form’s most famous trait; wolves (-dogs, canines-) and loyalty.
Name: A combination of Japanese and Chinese calling back to the lineage of his home.
優眭 (Yūsuī): Gentleness (within) evil eyes.
Full Title: The {1 of Spades?}, “Loyal Fenris, Yūsuī”
Card’s Face: A wolf of white fur and purple-blue eyes, pupils not black and round but red and shaped as the number “1”, stood upon a mountain peak of ice and snow, the full moon- an impression of the spades symbol within it- shining upon him as he stared at the viewer.
Card’s Back: The wolf, curled up at the foot of a- comfortable looking- armchair, settled by a softly flickering fireplace. The flames, blue and silver, reflecting off the dark brown wood and maroon carpet starkly setting off the empty place of the armchair, black, against the homely atmosphere of the image. On the top right corner, a scroll is hung, with the simple word "End".
Element(s): Frost/Yin
Strengths: Stealth/ Speed > Ambush/Tracking/Element
Specialization: Rogue (Major) | Frost Elemental (Minor) > Frost Mage Assassin (Major) | Vengeful Yin Spirit (Minor)
Skill(s):
Description: Snow, ghost-like, white fur and pale, purple-blue, clear-as-ice eyes, bluish-ice teeth and claws, darkened with purple yin poison, and a patch of darker fur, a silver-grey instead of white, on the chest where the heart would lie beneath.
Personality Matrix: Loyal, obedient, and pack-oriented- a bit introverted as well- /don’t understate; he’ll be standoffish to everyone but you\..
→ Note: This was found by way of {Light's} and
I'll be honest. The first thought I had after reading through all of that was just, 'Damn system, why you so long winded? Can't you shorten this shit down?'
And, as if the almighty system had, indeed, heard me, another *ding* pulled back my wandering thoughts.

'Very cool. Thank you system, but that's not really helpful at the moment.'
By now, Yūsuī had smushed himself into my side while I'd been busy. Which, I had absolutely no problems with. While I loved cool climates as much as the next guy, this den really was a bit too cold for this current self, and, if my new packmate wanted to help mitigate that, then who was I to argue.
'Light. Let's do memories quickly and get the Void out of here. This place's a bit too filthy and that task won't do itself.'
{Of course, Star. Here it is.}
As always, Light is perfection incarnate.
The memories flowed through our link.
Let's see...
Our- actual- name is "Lu Wenyin" (吕文音)- "Wenyin Lu", in the American standard- and, as the status stated, we're 16 years old as of today (June 1st).
'Ouch, great birthday gift this' been, ah?'
Currently, a college student, 'Dual enrolled actually, but who's counting eh?'
Seems this one got quite a bit of "bleed-through" from the other [cycles]; Light was right, the [Li Heritage] one definitely did somethin' with how we're Chinese American ('isn't mǔqīn's surname Li?') and the "bleed-through" would explain the "working-on-two-majors-at-age-16" thing.
Somewhat surprisingly, has a family, we're usually an orphan, if only because it's easier for the [Plane] to explain our existence as a "random-orphan-which-just-so-happened-to-have-some-special-abilities".
The situation with the family is complicated though: it's a big household, no grandparents, or other "elders", in the picture but- both parents are alive, mom wanted three kids- ended up with five. We're the third oldest, two older siblings- twins- one brother, one sister- and the two youngest are also twins- another sister and a, questioning, sibling- which, last we talked, had said that they didn't know who they were, yet, but definitely didn't like going by feminine pronouns- so we're using they/them, for now.
'I can feel a headache incoming. Who decided that we needed a family this [cycle]? I like our siblings but- did we really need parents? Didn't we deal enough with Asian parents and their expectations during our [Original Cycle]?'
It, at least, explained why we were living alone.
As the older queer kid that the parents blamed for "influencing" the "baby" of the family...
Nevermind that Zhihui- (who's said that they're probably keeping the name since it's both unisex, enough that they haven't felt dysphoric over it, and matches with Zhihua's name, since our parents followed mǔqīn's family tradition of naming each 'set' of children with a different 'generation name' but adhering to the theme of "nature"-) was only 2 years younger than us and- had been well into adolescence, they'd been 13, when they'd "figured it out" so to say.
...yea, makes perfect sense, place the blame on the genius middle child, who you've both been ignoring and showboating around whenever, and wherever, you pleased- since he'd been too young to have any say in it.
Yupp~ that definitely will endure you to your first openly queer child now that he has the remarkable "ability" of indepedence and absolutely won't make them cut off contact with you like their elder siblings had.
Noo~ why would you think so? That definitely~ won't happen...
Yea. We moved out as soon as we managed to get self-sufficient.
Though it really doesn't instill confidence, that out of the three 'older' kids, all but one- our older brother- had 'broken off' contact.
In summary?
Prodigious, Chinese American, college student, who's double majoring in zoology and molecular genetics- 'weird combination but go off, I guess-' at 16. Living alone, in a one bedroom apartment, with money ze's making from a part time job as a librarian at the campus library and, mainly, a 'side gig' as a stocks manager- 'I guess having a family background in business had to go somewhere-' and is now having to deal with this whole "live horror game" thing- on their birthday, no less.
Opening eyes that I hadn't conciously closed, I gave the memories- more the emotions they brought than anything- a second to settle, before nudging my incarnations for their thoughts.
'Well?'
/Did you forget to mention our cat? I think our cute little "King 'Yagi' Yama, the Lord of the Underworld and the Gardens of Hell" deserves more than cold disregard, don't you think?\
'Pfft- yes, yes, my fault- hah- sorry- it's just been a while since we've had a pet we've named in that way. This self really took after our old selves huh...'
{I don't think that's a bad thing, Little Lord. It's good that we were meticulous- and paranoid- enough, that we've left instructions on who will take in Lil' Yagi if something were to happen to us. Such as it now happens to be.}
'Hn. We'll have to thank jiě, when we find a way to communicate with the outside world again.'
{/'Agreed.’\}
'En. Though I doubt this "game" will drag in our parents- it seems to prefer younger victims (for stats-related reasons, perhaps?)- either way, let's get this "copy" over with first before we worry about that.'
