Fifteen

  Saturday was blissfully uneventful.

Seulgi was actually a closet introvert. She was perfectly fine by herself and could keep herself entertained. A K-drama, a book, or even a word game on her phone could keep her entertained for hours.

She could act the part of an extrovert for her friends, and family or when at work as well. And she could py the part very well, convincing all but her closest friends and family.

She pted her pizza, grabbed some tea, went to the living room, and turned on her TV to find some mindless drama to enjoy her pizza with. Maybe she would catch up on Amazing Attorney Woo.

Seulgi thought of the things that she needed to do today before submerging herself into pizza and a TV show. Laundry. Take a couple of suits for dry cleaning. Watering her one surviving pnt. Wait...making sure that her one surviving pnt was still alive, THEN water it. If it was still alive, that is. Make a grocery list for the week. Going to the grocery store after making the list. Going to the grocery store with the list, after it was made.

Looking chagrined, that was a very valid line of thought about grocery stores and lists.

Amazing Attorney Woo was not on, but Descendants of the Sun was! A cssic show, so she decided to watch that.

Content that within an hour that had passed, two slices of pizza were devoured, a cat was covered with pizza grease after insisting on being petted while the said pizza was being consumed, and another episode of Descendants of the Sun was re-watched.

She picked up her undry and started a load. She went ahead and donned very casual clothes and some sneakers to head out. She should be back fairly quickly, so her undry would not be in the washer too long before pcing it in the dryer. She grabbed the pile of dry cleaning and put it in a bag to take to the cleaners then headed to the grocery store.

She grabbed her keys and purse and then eyed her apartment to make sure it was in order before heading out. She made sure to lock the door as she left.

A moment ter, she came back in, grabbed the grocery list off of the counter where she had specifically pced it to remind herself before leaving, and headed back out.

She was walking slowly both to take care of her ankle and to just enjoy the morning. She chatted with some neighbors on the elevator ride down. She waved at the guards while leaving her building. She enjoyed the sunshine on her face as she walked to the dry cleaners.

She could have availed herself of the local undry service that offers to come to collect her clothes and that would return everything fresh and folded. Many people in the building were loyal customers of this service. She had used it before as well when she was sick or just too busy. But, today, she wanted to do it herself.

It was the same with the grocery store. She could have had everything delivered. However, she wanted to get out of the apartment. It would have been too easy to become a hikikomori if she let herself become one. So, as much for her mental well-being, as well as her physical, she was out and about today.

She was still, occasionally, reminded to walk slowly by her ankle, but it was already getting better. The sneakers helped make walking easier. As they were actually designed for athletic use, there was extra cushioning to make walking and running easier.

After dropping off the undry, she headed to the grocery store. She checked her pocket to make sure the list had not dropped out. Then she stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and started to ugh at herself. She remembered that she kept a copy of the grocery list on her phone just in case of dropping the paper she wrote it on.

She walked on, ughing quietly to herself. She started humming the song she heard st night at the fair.

At the store, she got almost everything on the list. They were out of a few things or they did not have the things in the brand that she wanted. She was able to make decent substitutions for most things. She was absolutely a foodie, but she knew what to compromise on and what not to compromise on.

She also found a few things to impulse buy as well, just because she could. Did she really need microwave popcorn? No. Did she want microwave popcorn? Yes. It was healthier than candy, right? Right. So, she convinced herself that it was alright. And so, she compromised and got some.

She smiled when she heard someone else humming the same tune as herself the next aisle over. She turned the corner and saw the young gentleman that was humming. They smiled at each other and had an intimate mini-concert, just the two of them. They nodded at each other and kept shopping.

Such was Seulgi’s time at the store. All the while, she was still unaware of the effect she had on people. Even un-made up, in baggy sweats, and with her hair tied up into a ponytail, she was still one of the most captivating females everywhere she went. For example, the humming young man walked into a support column after being dazed by Seulgi’s smile. This was a simple example of the unintentional damage Seulgi would leave in the wake. When she actually tried to doll herself up, she was absolutely lethal.

After checking out, she took her bagged-up groceries and judged if it would be safe to walk home without re-injuring her ankle. The groceries were a bit heavy but manageable. She figured that with the benefits of being young and fit, she ought to be OK. She kept the phone number of the taxi company handy just in case.

While it was only a few blocks, there was no sense in taking the chance of re-hurting herself. She could only imagine the berating Jackson would give her if she did. Nayeon would join in, of course, abet in a lesser way. Yeji and Min-Jeong would just hide until the scolding was over. Seriously. Jackson could be more maternal than the girls were.

So, after thanking the cashier, she started walking home and humming.

She made a thankfully uneventful trip home.

The security guard to her building was taking an unauthorized smoke break outside the entrance under the guise of holding the door open for residents. Though a non-smoker, she would not begrudge a person their vices. Within reason, of course.

That she made it home without tripping or dropping anything was an absolute win in her – and in most people who knew her – book.
