Chapter 1: The Eye-Catching Wedding
Ning Fan's phone call was to Su Yun, and as soon as the call connected, Ning Fan said straightforwardly: "Forensic Doctor Su, do you have time at noon? Let's have lunch together."
"Good." Su Yun's voice came with a hint of softness and charm, "Where are we eating?"
"I don't know what you like to eat either, how about we talk about it when we meet up?" Ning Fan thought for a moment and said: "I'll wait for you at the police station entrance."
"Okay, wait for half an hour." Su Yun agreed without hesitation.
After hanging up the phone, Ning Fan sat in the car and waited. His mind couldn't help but think of Tongtong again. He didn't actually want to keep reminiscing about the past, but Tongyao's appearance made him involuntarily recall many things about Tongtong.
From the moment he parted with Tongtong, he had been busy all the time. Now that he was finally free, an idea kept popping up in his mind - should he go to the provincial city?
First loves are always hard to let go of, and Ning Fan still can't shake off his feelings for Tongtong. So he's always thinking that if he goes to the provincial city and finds Tongtong, maybe he can salvage their relationship, or maybe he can get Tongtong back by his side.
However, there is a biggest problem, it's not whether Tongtong will change her mind, but Ningfan doesn't know if he can accept her change of heart.
Their feelings have been intervened by a third party, even if Tongtong returns with a change of heart, Ningfan asks himself and finds that he may no longer be able to accept. Perhaps in other people's eyes, Ningfan is mediocre and low-key, but deep down, he is proud. His pride makes him unable to accept Tongtong's return.
Their feelings were once as beautiful as a fairy tale, but now the fairy tale has been shattered and their emotions have become tainted. No matter how things develop in the future, they can never go back to the way things used to be.
"Perhaps it's time to let go." Ning Fan said silently in his heart, Tong Hua might not be wrong, he and Tong Hua were never suitable for each other.
"Huh, Ning Fan, you're here?" A familiar voice came at this time, it was Shi Kun, he had just sent someone out of the police station and then saw Ning Fan in the car.
"Uncle Kun." Ning Fan only managed a greeting with Shi Kun, while also feeling a bit regretful for having rolled down the window.
"Ning Fan, you're just in time. Come on in, I have something to talk to you about." Shi Kun seemed particularly enthusiastic, even more so than usual.
"Uncle Kun, I'm here to pick up a friend, so I won't be going in." Ning Fang politely declined.
"Alright, I'll tell you here." Shi Kun seemed a bit helpless, walked to the other side, opened the car door and sat down beside Ning Fan. "Ning Fan, I won't beat around the bush either. Lately, the bureau has been in turmoil, affecting the reputation of the police department greatly. We need a positive heroic figure to restore our reputation, so we invited reporters from the provincial city to report on this. We want you to be that hero."
"Uncle Kun, I'm no longer a police officer." Ning Fan reminded Shi Kun.
"Ning Fan, as long as you agree, you can return to the police station. After all, it was Zhang Anfeng who fired you, and we can also say that we are turning a trick into a counter-trick, letting you go undercover. In short, we will take care of this operation, you just need to nod." Shi Kun had an air of having a preconceived plan.
Pausing for a moment, Shi Kun continued: "Actually, Ning Fan, others may not know, but I'm very clear that you're the best police officer in our bureau. Once you return to the police station, you'll definitely be able to take on important responsibilities."
"Uncle Kun, I won't be going back to the police station again." Ning Fan shook his head, "As for the publicity thing, actually, Uncle Kun you're a better publicity object. The police station doesn't need heroes, but rather people like you who are loyal to their duties and good policemen."
"Ning Fan, is it because of being expelled that you have a grudge against the police station?" Shi Kun let out a soft sigh, "If so, I can apologize to you on behalf of the police station..."
"Uncle Kun, you don't need to apologize." Ning Fan hastily shook his head. "I have no complaints about the police station either. It's just that, Uncle Kun, I'm telling you the truth, after leaving the police station, I realized that I'm not suited for being a policeman. This kind of life now is more suitable for me."
"Ning Fan, are you serious?" Shi Kun frowned slightly.
"Uncle Kun, I don't need to deceive you, I really don't want to be a police officer anymore." Ning Fan said with a sincere expression.
"But if that's the case, in terms of reporting... " Shi Kun was at a loss for words. "Ning Fan, you know that if a dismissed policeman becomes a hero instead, it will be a devastating blow to our police bureau."
"Uncle Kun, just let the reporter write an exclusive interview with you." Ning Fan suggested again.
"This probably won't work." Shi Kun shook his head. "That young reporter from the provincial capital has already said he's going to focus on reporting about you."
Ning Fan fell silent for a moment before speaking up, "Uncle Kun, don't worry, I'll persuade her."
"Ning Fan, do you know that young journalist?" Shi Kun suddenly realized.
"We're schoolmates, and we're relatively familiar with each other." Ning Fan wasn't lying, he just didn't reveal the whole truth. He was barely acquainted with Tong Yao, but their relationship was far from good.
"That's good." Shi Kun let out a sigh of relief, "Ning Fan, then I'll trouble you with this matter. I have to head back to the office first, I still need to report this to Secretary Zhang."
As he watched Shi Kun get out of the car and walk into the police station, Ning Fan let out a soft sigh. In fact, he really liked being a policeman, but he had come to realize that he was not suited for it, just like many things that had happened in recent days. If he were still a policeman, then he would not be suitable for doing what he did.
Looking at the time, Su Yun should still have about ten minutes before she comes out, so Ning Fang dialed Tong Yao's phone.
"What's up? Don't even think about asking me for coffee money!" Tong Huan answered the phone and said loudly.
"I need you to change the subject of the report to someone else, and I don't want any mention of me in the report. You set a condition, what do I need to do for you to agree to this request?" Ning Fan said straightforwardly.
"You're sick, can't you just be a secondary hero? Do you have to make people think you're a useless waste of space?" Tong Yao said irritably.
"State your conditions!" Ning Fang's voice was somewhat cold and detached.
"Is it that you don't want to be reported on yourself or is it that your municipal government doesn't allow you to accept interviews?" Tong Yao suddenly asked after a moment of silence.
"I don't expect you to understand, but I don't like being famous," Ning Fan said slowly.
The little boy fell silent for a moment, then suddenly spoke up: "Alright, I'll agree to your condition. Who do you want me to report on?"
"Shi Kun, you should have seen it." Ning Fang said quickly: "You can now state your conditions, as long as they are not excessive, I will agree to them."
"No conditions!" The nursery rhyme simply said four words and then hung up the phone.
No conditions?
Ning Fan was taken aback for a moment, when did Tong Yao become so talkative?
But anyway, it's all right now, this matter is settled.
Out of the corner of his eye, Ning Fan caught a glimpse of a beautiful figure, and his heart skipped a beat. The next second, he saw clearly who it was, opened the car door and got out, waving: "Dr. Su, over here."
Su Yun turned her head and smiled at Ning Fan with a flirtatious smile, swaying as she came over. Ning Fan's eyes involuntarily flashed with an unusual gleam. The current Su Yun had already taken off her white coat and was wearing a white short-sleeved dress that just reached the knee, slightly conservative but still able to show off her perfect figure.
Her waist is slender, while the bigger places are slightly larger than most women. A pair of slender legs in white leather sandals, long hair draped over her shoulders, paired with her beautiful face, looks like a real angel in white, except that her enchanting eyes have the ability to make people unknowingly fall into hell.
Half angel, half devil, she seems to be a mixture of an angel and a devil, just like her dual profession.
"Have you been here for a while?" A faint fragrance wafted up, and Su Yun had already walked to Ning Fan's front. "Sorry, I took a bath and changed my clothes before coming out."
"I think it's worth waiting another half hour," Ning Fan said with a faint smile.
"Suddenly, Su Yun couldn't help but laugh: 'I didn't expect you to be so good at sweet-talking women.'"
"I'm just telling the truth." Ning Fan smiled slightly.
"Hmm, you're indeed good at coaxing women." Su Yun smiled and puckered her lips, "Alright, where shall we go for dinner?"
"Hunan cuisine, Cantonese cuisine, Sichuan cuisine and seafood, you can choose for yourself." Ning Fan said casually.
"Are you going to choose both?" Su Yun blinked her eyes.
"Hmm, okay, but maybe we'll have to eat in shifts." Ning Fan said, dazed.
"I'd rather eat once and for all, how about you cook for me?" Su Yun smiled lightly, "You should know how to cook, right?"
"Of course I will, it's just..." Ning Fan was taken aback for a moment, he hadn't expected Su Yun to make such a request.
"What? Don't you want me to go to your home?" Su Yun asked.
"That's not it, I just wasn't prepared. If you really want to eat at my place, we'll probably have to go buy some groceries first." Ning Fan explained with a shake of his head.
"It doesn't matter, let's go to the supermarket first." Su Yun smiled sweetly, "I was just thinking of experiencing what it's like to accompany someone else to buy groceries at the supermarket."
"Haven't you ever gone to the supermarket to buy vegetables?" Ning Fan asked in surprise.
"I've been there." Su Yun shook her head, "But always alone."
Ning Fan had an inexplicable feeling in his heart, and then he opened the car door: "Get in first."
"I heard that the bureau wants you back, is it true?" Su Yun asked as soon as the car started moving.
"Hmm, but I refused." Ning Fan replied truthfully.
"Why?" Su Yun was somewhat surprised, "I think you quite like being a police officer, and you're a very just person."
"If I go back to the police station, I'm afraid the first thing I'll have to do is arrest you." Ning Fan said with a half-joking tone.
"Don't say it's for me that you didn't become a police officer, or else I'll be really touched." Su Yun smiled lightly, looking especially charming and captivating.
"I'm not quite suitable for being a police officer." Ning Fan smiled, but in his heart, he was secretly wondering if his immediate refusal of Uncle Kun's proposal also had something to do with Su Yun.
