Chapter 7: Li Yu Zhi
Actually, Li Sansheng didn't have any hope for the university he was attending in China, which is considered to be a third-rate school. He thought that this school, which only knew how to shout slogans without any real strength or substance, couldn't possibly achieve anything. Moreover, Li Sansheng's major was Tourism Management, which has no threshold and every school offers it, so he felt like his chances of coasting through were higher.
Why would he choose a major that has nothing to do with his interests, instead of choosing something like finance or economics which he likes more? This is also one of the things that have been puzzling Li San Sheng and his friends for a long time. Considering Li San Sheng's keen sense of finance and economics, as well as his talent in playing stocks, it would be more practical for him to choose a major related to finance. Even Lao Meng from Renmin University, who is one of the most legendary figures in Jiaoda Fuzhong, has absolute respect for Li San Sheng's talent in this area.
I remember when I went to that school, Li San Sheng was just a blurry and inexperienced country bumpkin. The students in that school were either from powerful families or wealthy families, so the things and ideas they came into contact with from a young age were completely unimaginable for Li San Sheng. It just so happened to be the golden age of China's stock market, the period when the huge bubble was forming and rising. In the words of that time, even an idiot playing stocks could make money.
So most of the students in school were playing stocks, and every time they opened their mouths, it was about how the Shanghai-Shenzhen index was doing today, how the market was doing, which concept stock had risen to a halt, what inside information institutions had, and at that time Li Sansheng had just removed the label of rural bumpkin. Under the influence of his surroundings, he gradually came to understand these things as well. Everyone around him was playing stocks, and Li Sansheng couldn't help but follow suit, but in Li Sansheng's dictionary, there was never such a thing as blindly chasing after something. Either he didn't make a move, or when he did, it was a earth-shattering one.
Li San Sheng, who wanted to speculate in stocks, spent a whole month devouring all the books on stock speculation available on the market at that time. In fact, most of them were repetitive and similar. Li San Sheng then spent another half month every night reading financial news and institutional comments, and the next day observing the overall market trend and specific stock trends.
Half a month later, Li Sansheng came out of prison.
As Li Sansheng said, if he didn't take action, it would be fine. But once he took action, he had to shock the world. Li Sansheng, who was dressed in armor and ready for battle, entered the stock market just a month ago and turned his capital into ten times its original value. The monthly return rate was tenfold, leaving everyone around him stunned and speechless.
Li Sansheng felt that he didn't have much ambition or great expectations, at most he just wanted to hold a birthday banquet for his grandfather that would make everyone envious, secondly he wanted to build a magnificent ancestral tomb for his grandfather, and finally find a woman who liked him and whom he liked, willing to entrust her happiness to him, and give birth to a child with the Li family.
The financial risk is too great, and Li Sansheng doesn't like the intrigue involved either. After considering this comprehensively, Li Sansheng chose a simple and easy profession.
Hurriedly carrying his luggage and a series of things, he arrived at the enrollment hall, registered and paid the fees. Watching those tens of 100-yuan bills disappear, to be honest, he still felt a little heartache. As for life, Li Sansheng understood that kind of hardship more than many people. He could only sigh that China's education industry is just a profiteering industry, and the behind-the-scenes pusher is the government. Thinking about the so-called university town, Li Sansheng felt very helpless. The former official who had been compared to the pioneer of China's education reform, Li Sansheng believed that his greatest reform for Chinese education was to industrialize education, mechanize students, and let the whole world see how this ancient civilization with a 5,000-year history treated education, which is really laughable.
After paying the tuition and accommodation fees, Li San Sheng took the electric vehicle sent by the school to new students and headed towards his future doghouse where he would live for several years. Along the way, he looked at the scenery of the private university campus, which was leaning against the big mountain behind it, with fake hills, lakes, and bamboo, and thought it wasn't bad. In his heart, he cursed, "Damn, I paid over 10,000 yuan, not to mention the teaching level, if the hardware facilities are not good, who would come to this school?" However, Li San Sheng was a bit disappointed that he didn't see several beautiful female students during the payment process, and could only sigh that his luck was bad.
Arrived at the dormitory building where he lived, in Building 23, which was closer to the school's tennis center. The hardware facilities of this school were indeed impressive. Holding the dormitory card, he followed the floor manager, Auntie, to get the key to his room. Li San Sheng kept calling her "Auntie" and she seemed to be delighted, praising him for being well-mannered and understanding. Li San Sheng could only secretly despise himself, thinking that if it weren't for the fact that he would need to curry favor with her in the future, he wouldn't have been so sycophantic. But then he thought about it and realized that this was just how human relationships worked, and one had to understand that.
The dormitory building has six floors, and my own dorm is on the third floor, neither high nor low. Right across from us is the girls' dorm, which makes Li Sansheng, who has some bad thoughts in his mind, feel quite relieved. If he could sing a folk song whenever something happens or not, it would be really comfortable.
As soon as he entered the dormitory, he saw that someone was already sitting there playing games. The game looked similar to Tail of the Dragon, a somewhat shady and addictive game. Li Sansheng didn't expect this guy to be into this kind of thing too. He took a look at the three beds in the room and saw that they were all occupied, with only his own bed left empty. The guy playing computer games in the dormitory noticed that the door had opened and Li Sansheng was entering with his luggage, and he smiled lecherously as he approached him. With an air of familiarity, he took Li Sansheng's things from him and patted him on the shoulder, saying "Brother, you're late! Our dormitory was just missing one person, and we were all guessing whether or not you'd show up, haha!"
From the physiognomy passed down from his grandfather, Li Sansheng looked quite normal. But looking at that sly smile on his face made Li feel a bit creeped out. He put down his things and said, "Something came up, so I'm running a bit late."
The dormitory has been cleaned spotlessly, including Li Sansheng's bed and the desk and wardrobe underneath, which have all been wiped clean. It seems that this guy must have done it. He is about 1.85 meters tall, a bit taller than Li Sansheng. His build is average, nothing special. I guess he's either from Northeast China or Inner Mongolia. He has a pale complexion and wears glasses, giving off a somewhat refined and cultured impression.
"We'll be struggling together in the same trench for four years from now on, I'm Ye Yongsong, a guy from Inner Mongolia, what about you?" This guy was introducing himself without any awkwardness.
"Li Sansheng, Shaanxi WN people" Li Sansheng said with a smile
"Locals, it seems you'll have to take care of me more from now on." So far, Li Sansheng thought that Ye Yongsong was still a pretty enthusiastic kid, with a genuine smile and a personality like an Inner Mongolian.
Then, with Ye Yongsong's help, Li Sansheng started to put away his bedding, made the bed and put away his quilt, put all his ordinary clothes in the wardrobe, and also put away his shoes, three pairs of shoes, one pair of sports shoes and two pairs of old cloth shoes. He also placed a few books on the bookshelf and roughly tidied up.
He took a look at the dormitory and saw how clean it was, Li San Sheng bitterly smiled to himself that he wouldn't be able to make a mess from now on. This smelly sock and these stinky clothes definitely couldn't be hoarded anymore. If he dared to hoard them like in high school until he felt like washing them, this guy would probably go crazy.
When Li Sānshēng had finished tidying up his doghouse and was about to wash his face, he turned around and saw a scene of Yè Yánsōng being extremely rude. This guy, who was over 1.8 meters tall, was squatting on a chair in a very comfortable position, intently watching the screen of his laptop computer, which was showing an absolutely precious edition of a Japanese war drama film. Moreover, he was shamelessly drooling and muttering to himself, "This move is not bad, but the force is not enough. If the angle were adjusted a bit more, it would be absolutely thrilling."
Li Sansheng could only sigh and say, "Dude, you're crazy!"
It's not necessary to mention what happened later, Li Sansheng also joined the ranks of supporting island specialties without hesitation, and found a chair, but unlike Ye Yongsong's domineering squatting, it wasn't very civilized either, directly bending his waist and propping up his chin with a dazed expression.
Two elegant failures sat together smoking and watching an art film, the cigarettes were given by Ye Yansong to Li Sansheng, a pack of Huanghe Lou for thirteen yuan, looking like they still have a good family background, estimated that this month's cigarette money is almost a thousand, Li Sansheng can only sigh that children from rich families know how to enjoy themselves and contribute to the country's GDP, knowing that the financial crisis has not retreated yet, pulling domestic economic demand.
So, Li San Sheng's first day of school was spent watching a literary film with his roommates, and the two guys were still talking non-stop about something, which was quite impressive.
When the other two people in the dormitory came back with a large pile of daily necessities, they saw Li Sansheng and Ye Yongsong's strong style, and the two familiar guys put down their things and rushed to worship.
After a brief introduction, Li Sansheng got to know them. Qiao Minceng was from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, a typical southerner, about 1.75 meters tall, clean and tidy; while the other one, Lu Guangzhong, was from northern Shaanxi, with non-standard Mandarin, slightly darker than himself, and a bit shorter.
It didn't take long for everyone to become familiar with each other, chatting and laughing together. They were all of the same age, and having gone through similar experiences, they had a common language. These three guys were also the kind who could have fun and cause trouble. Li San was relieved that their dormitory didn't have those kinds of people who were always plotting against each other, with ulterior motives. University life may be short, only four years, but if every day in the dorm was filled with tension and deceit, it would be unbearable.
It wasn't long before the four dormitory mates started asking about their ages and began to determine their seniority. In the end, Ye Yongsong was the oldest and became the eldest, while Lu Guangzhong ranked second, Qiao Mincheng was ten days younger than Lu Guangzhong and ranked third, and Li San Sheng was the youngest and had to be at the bottom.
"Fourth brother, don't get me wrong, the movie we just watched was Qiao Minceng's own work, I'm a decent person." Ye Yongsong started dividing up the food that Qiao Minceng and Lu Guangzhong had just bought from the supermarket. As he spoke, he took advantage of others' kindness, eating their food while still unscrupulously criticizing Qiao Minceng, utterly shameless.
"Haha, decent? You're a decent face!" Li Sansheng raised his middle finger in disdain without hesitation.
Qiao Mincheng and Lu Guangzhong applauded and shouted, "Still the wise Old Fourth! This Old First is too unscrupulous. In the future, whatever excellent films there are, they will absolutely not let such a decent person appreciate them again, lest others say that we've ruined the country's future flowers."
Following the route of a movie villain, Li Sansheng successfully found the school's supermarket, which was located inside the comprehensive building. The two-story high building was fully occupied by various shops. In the supermarket, he bought some essential living and learning supplies, then went to the fruit store to buy some fruits, and also had lunch at a Muslim canteen in the school that looked not bad. Li Sansheng hurried back to school, as there was still evening self-study tonight, which was the first evening self-study of his university life. He didn't dare to be absent, it would be too showy.
Thinking of those three live treasures in the dormitory, I guess they also didn't study well during high school, otherwise they wouldn't end up in this school, probably just like myself, stupid and brainless to come here.
Perhaps influenced by my grandfather's ideas, I have always been unwilling to be high-profile. In China, the gun is always fired at the bird that sticks its head out. The simplest truth is the Hurun Rich List, which someone jokingly calls the "pig-killing list". Over the years, most of the fallen business tycoons were on the Hurun Rich List, especially the case of Huang Guangyu gave too many lessons to clever Chinese rich people.
When I returned to the dormitory, the three roommates had already gone back to their respective classes. The four of us were not from the same major, unlike other dormitories which were like a group army, while our great 308 dormitory was more like a motley crew.
According to the receipt and school map, after much difficulty, Li Sansheng finally found his classroom, located in the east wing of the main teaching building.
Li Sansheng hadn't even entered the classroom when he heard the incessant chirping of girls inside. He suddenly looked up to find that more than half of the class was female. Faced with so many women, Li Sansheng slowly walked to the very back left corner of the room, without even bothering to look for any beauties in the class. He picked up a book he had brought himself, a somewhat tattered Kangxi edition of "Journey to the West".
Like this, Li Sansheng has been carefree in his own world until someone called out "Li Yuzhi", and only then did Li Sansheng suddenly remember that this was indeed his name, Li Yuzhi.
Li Yu Zhi, twenty years ago on a snowy night, an old man with faltering steps and hunched back looked at the vast snow for several hours before taking his name.
