Year 1: classes: chapter 2

The sound of sizzling meat and pained screaming was all Hanna noticed as she waited to be disqualified. Sure breaking fingers was pretty bad but this was burning someone's face. There was no way that was allowed.... right?

The girl has instantly deactivated the tunnel.

"Are you okay?" The girl asked as Hanna tried to process that this was in fact allowed.

After a few seconds Hanna tentively walked up and delivered a swift kick to the man's balls. Only for her foot to rebound painfully off the man's suit.

"FUCK THIS HURTS. HIT ME!!!" The man yelled out.

The arrow girl who had sat stunned at the display of burning human face got her bearing and blasted the man with an arrow tunnel. Destroying the hand and launching the man away.

Hanna took the moment of reprieve to take a look around. Her suspiciousions confirmed as she noted how bad the injuries were getting for both the enemy team as well as her own team.

Broken arms, deep cuts, one of the girls on the opposing team even had broken ribs. It was way out of hand. Why were the judges letting everyone do this to eachother? Hanna was interrupted from her confusion as she had to dodge yet another arrow Tunnel.

She needed to get rid of this girl fast. Problem was Hanna didn't have the hands for it. She was gonna have half to finish off the girl the hard way. By beating the ever loving shit out of her.

Hanna rushed forward. Dodged another tunnel aimed at her then rolled out of the way of another. After about 5 tunnels had been created total the girl did the scisccor motion destroying 5 of the tunnels. Hanna used the opportunity to dash forward and land a sliding kick aimed at the lower potion of the girls legs. She then stumped up to deliver and uppercut and in the instance after grabbed the girls head and slammed her own into it.

Hanna didn't let up. Punching at her stomach then moving to punching her side as the girl started to defend herself.

Hanna then hooked the girls right foot and tripped her. Once on the ground she pinned the girl to the ground by using her own weight before savagely beating into her face. One punch after the other, slapping the girls hands away as she tried futilely to block Hanna.

Once she was absolutely sure the girl couldn't find back she broke each finger on the girls hand illiciting pained groans from the girl. Hanna attempted to finish off the poor girl with a final punch only for something to grab her hand.

Instantly white hot streaks of pain slithered down her arm as electric shocks came from the dark gauntlets of the man Hanna had completely forgotten about during the one sided beat down she had dished out.

Hanna replied by hooking the man and dropping him to the ground only to convulse to the ground herself as the electricity coursed across her leg.

The man's face was covered in a nasty looking burn that was in the image of a hand. As if something very hot had grabbed his face which it did.

The remaining earth hand which was starting to look like red stone grabbed the man's head keeping him from getting up. The man grabbed on to it and placed his palm onto the conjured hand a beam of pure electrical current hit the hand.... and did absolutely nothing. Not even a crack.

It took Hanna a moment to realize what was going on. When she did she immediately orderd the hand to start attacking the man. The hand floated up and punched into the man doing very little.

  "What?"

It took a few seconds for her to wrap her mind around why the "punch" was so weak. The hands didn't have arms or muscles. Their strength came from their ability to always be capable of lifting 30 pounds. That meant they could easily restrain someone. But without muscles or arms they couldn't generate enough force to perform a proper attack.

She ordered the hand to fly up to around 10 feet. This had the unfortunate effect of almost giving the man enough time to get up but the hand acting on its guessing what Hanna was going for slammed down directly into the man's....

  "Ouch"

Hanna decided that maybe. Just maybe she should probably apologize.

  "I'm sorry?"

  "Ooooh fuck that hurts."

Hanna decided that maybe her apology should come with some kinda gift. Money always patched things up... sure she only had around 10 dollars in her account but she had.... gone a little too far with that final attack.

Hanna ordered the hand to attack his head this time. The earthen Hand flew up to about 5 feet before slamming down on his head. Once. Twice. And on the third the guy was definitely knocked out. Probably.

  "I'm sorry."

She ordered it to slam into his head one final time just to be sure.

  .......

Jeff Ivins was excited. He sat in anticipation as the live feed of the first year's 1st evaluation. He sat in a comfortable leather chair in the park of his apartment he liked to call his office.

A place that held his work computer. Pictures that were bought more for their price tag then out of any artistic appreciation and an unused bookcase full of impressive looking novels.

It was the place from which he would teach classes. After all, being wheelchair bound in a building full of super powered college kids while not possessing any powers yourself was a terrible idea.

It was his job to teach students about the wonders of PR, Image, and public relations. It was not a popular class. Yet, when the entire first year was made up of vigilantes it become very necessary.

This was because vigilantes were essentially just powered bounty hunters given a lot of leeway by the government to go after villains. Those meant a slew of bad habits that needed to be taught out of the students before they could do patrols.

Most of the time he would watch a recording of the examination but he had a vested interest in one of the new students.

Hanna Montgomery was interesting to him. He'd always hated all the failed attempts at recruiting those who the system viewed as disabled. They were so rare that when the system did choose them it would go unoticed until it was too late. That wasn't even considering that mutants unlike system users didn't get such a benefit even if they wete disabled.

He disagreed with the hardline methods they almost certainly used to recruit the poor girl. Even then it was neccary. They needed all the high leveled Empowerds they could get their hands on. And someone with doubled points wasn't just likely to be counted amongst that number. They were practically garunteed to do so.

He hadn't yet gotten approved to check her file, but he had autistic cousin and he figured Hanna wouldn't be much different from her. Frankly he was worried that Hanna wouldn't do well in a combat scenario. It would be a shame if she failed the first examination but it would be what it would be.

So he watched. Then calmly brought out a bottle filled with an amber liquid. It was a bottle of expensive whisky. To be used on a rare occasion. He poured himself a glass.

He had just witnessed Hanna break another person's finger, without much hesitation. Then while in the process of bringing the glass to his lips he stopped. He watched in abject horror as the right progress. In the end he put the glass to the side of his work desk.

  "Fuck me."

He began to drink strait from the bottle.

  ........

It didn't take long for Hannas team to wipe out the opposition. Hanna took a minute to conjure 2 new hands, both of which she designated as earth hands, and they immediately went to work helping her teammates out by interrupted the enemies line of sight, grabbing arms, and generally tripping up the enemy.

After they had won a strange beam of pink light shone over the entire arena. It engulfed every square inch and it's sudden appearance startled Hanna. She wasn't the only one as more then a few of the enpowerds on the arena let out surprised exclamations.

At first nothing happend, then a sense like the feeling you would get mid stretch engulfed her whole body. The feeling was overwhelming to Hanna who's mind started to blank with overstimulating. Then blessedly it ended.

Hanna felt good. Really good. All the pain she hadn't even noticed until right then had disappeared. Looking around she noticed that the same seemed to be the case for her team as well as the opposition. Broken ribs had mended, burnt flesh regrew, and bruises faded. It was as if there had never been a fight in the first place. Even the ground was now spotless, without even a speck of blood.

They had a temporal displacer!!! The devices were incredibly rare since the egineer that could make them had died during a kaiju attack. So, it was very surprising they had one. The things costed millions!!

Hanna contemplating the sheer depth of the associations wealth followed her team to a nearby empty spot and watched as Taylor's team took to the arena.

The fight was over in less then 3 minutes. A large man with Grey scales had started the fight by charging Taylor who doged as 5 mirages of her delivered a series of punches to the man's nose all while shifting forwards grabing the man's arm in the same potion in order place him into a hold.

Joshua helped his team out by delivering blows using his power to surprise enemies while they were engaged with his allies. Between him and Taylor it was an easy victory with neither sustaining many injuries.

The rest of the fights went mostly the same. Teams were either heavily outmatched or clearly very experienced. Hanna was starting to realize that many of the students had clear combat experience even when outmatched. Some, were very well trained newbies while others had been in more then a few skirmishes if Hanna had to guess.

She soppossed it made sense. It wasn't exactly a secret that the vast majority of students accepted into the certification program were vigilantes. Only special cases like legacy heroes or Herself were allowed into the program without first starting out as vigilantes.

Once all the fights concluded Taylor guided the group out of the building and into the shchool proper. Hanna mostly zoned out as Taylor gave the group a tour, there was only so many times she could hear someone talk about how "ultra" or "super" a classroom or area was. It was starting to get a little annoying. She dimly wondered why Taylor even bothered with setting such a restrictions to her power.

Hanna knew that she had likely done so to boost her ability. That was a common way to make powers more effective was by adding a restriction or rule. Still, living your entire life having to somehow add in "ultra" or "super" to EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE. She wondered if maybe there was some sorta personal reason for it.

They come to a stop in an area of the school that was clearly some kind of medical facility. Sanitary white walls replaced the more tasteful hallways with their fanciful wallpaper. The place was like a hospital with wards, doctors, and busting nurse's as students were guided by their own guides to various buildings.

One ward confused Hanna though. A sighn above reading "mutantology ward." It wasn't something she'd ever seen in any hospital she'd ever been in. And being an autistic child she'd been to plenty. Especially since she had a tendency to resort to violence.

Regardless Hanna awaited what was obviously going to be a physical examination.

God she hopped their wouldn't be any needless. She HATED needles.
