Chapter Seventy-two Pitt
A black Mercedes sedan sped towards Palm Beach County, a rental vehicle provided by the hotel. Ryan sat in the back seat, his eyes slightly closed, as if he had fallen asleep.
It's been a while since he left Los Angeles, and he hasn't seen Nicole Kidman again. Even though they talk on the phone every day, it still makes Ryan feel helpless, making him want to grow up but also not wanting to grow up at the same time.
As they grow older and their careers get busier, the time they spend together will become less and less until one day he grows up and she has to leave him.
Is there a way to keep Nicole by his side forever? The thought flashed through Ryan's mind as he got off the car, but he didn't dare think about it anymore, nor did he want to. Some things, once they start heading in the opposite direction of what you hope for, can never go back to the way they were before.
Palm Beach County is part of the Miami metropolitan area, aptly named for its beaches and palm trees. The production team of "Top Gun" built a set here, and some exterior scenes will be filmed here, while interior scenes will return to Los Angeles studios.
"Sir, this is a private place, you can't come in."
As Ryan and George were about to enter the filming location, a staff member stopped them.
"I'm here visiting the set, my sister is an actress in the production." Ryan tipped up the brim of his baseball cap.
"Don't be kidding me..." The staff member suddenly froze, paused for a moment, and said, "You are... you are Ryan Jenkins? Are you here to visit Miss Nicole Kidman's class?"
"Shh~" Ryan made a zipping motion across his mouth and said, "Can I come in? Please don't make any noise, okay? I want to give Nicole a surprise."
"Of course." The staff member was like a magician, pulling out a pen and notebook from nowhere, handing them over, "Can I get your signature?"
Having satisfied the staff's small wishes, Ryan walked into the scene, his face undoubtedly became the best signboard. Moreover, there were not a few people in the crew who were employees of Miramax whom he knew, and they naturally knew what he was doing here for.
So Ryan arrived smoothly at the temporary studio.
As soon as he walked to the entrance of the studio, he saw a man and a woman not far away, wearing fitted naval uniforms, standing together and chatting, the man was very handsome, somewhat similar to George, with a strong masculine aura on his face, unlike some people who always looked like they had butter on their faces.
The woman is sexy and high-profile, the fitted uniform makes her look charming, easily attracting the attention of all men, it's Nicole Kidman.
"Shh~" Ryan raised his index finger at a few staff members, anyway it wasn't filming time yet, he wanted to give her a big surprise.
Ryan deliberately went around in a semicircle, with the help of photographic equipment and scenery, to get behind Nicole, winked at the man, quietly moved to the side of the Australian girl, and swiftly covered her eyes.
"Guess~guess~who I am!" His loud and clear voice was originally hard to hear, and he deliberately changed his tone, it was simply comparable to a broken bell.
"Who are you?" Nicole glared, her long fingers with calluses from the piano strings and keys, "Ryan, you're not a kid anymore! Stop playing these mischievous tricks!"
"Alright, alright." Ryan reluctantly let go, muttering discontentedly, "I've changed my voice, why can you still recognize me?"
"I can smell you." Nicole replied calmly, as if she wouldn't have recognized him even if he had a different soul.
"What's with the smell?" Ryan sniffed himself, everything seemed normal to him, he didn't have a strong body odor like Western men often did. He muttered to himself, "Could Nicole's true identity be that of a small dog?"
"Ryan~" Nicole's eyes widened, grinding her teeth, Ryan quickly took a step back and changed the subject, "Hey, Nicole, I miss you."
"I miss you too, dear." Nicole sighed and stepped forward, giving him a gentle hug.
Ryan originally wanted to stay in her arms for a while, but Nikki and he parted ways immediately. He could only frown, as with age and especially his increasing height, Nikki couldn't treat him like she did when they were kids anymore.
"Ray, hello." The handsome guy walked over and shook hands with Ray, saying, "Thanks for your recommendation, I was able to get the chance to play the male lead."
"No need to be formal, Mr. Brad Pitt." Ryan waved his hand casually.
"You can call me Brad."
"Alright, Brad." Ryan nodded, no need to be polite with him, after all their current status was worlds apart, he was just a third-line actor, "I've seen your performance in 'The Last Flower of Evil', impressive. Daniel Caffee, the handsome and righteous military lawyer, suits you perfectly."
"Yes." Pitt nodded in agreement, "Although there were many problems during filming, I can feel that this role can indeed play to my strengths."
Ryan rolled his eyes imperceptibly and said that although Brad Pitt was also known for his face, he later performed much better than the other one, especially in his early works.
He himself dragged into this kind of film with more idol-like qualities, really don't know if it's good or bad for his future, especially compared to the two people he acted with, whether it's Nicole Kidman or Jack Nicholson, they are far superior to him in terms of acting skills.
This is absolutely not a bad thing in Pitt's eyes, he is now just a small role floating up and down, after the news of the film's start was released, he gained more attention than the total of the past.
Brad Pitt was very good at socializing and after subtly complimenting Ryan a few times, he proactively left, giving the space to the siblings.
"How is he?" Ryan looked at the departing handsome guy.
"Very nice young man." Nicole's tone was old-fashioned, "Open-minded and sunny, got along well with most people in the crew, no arrogance or rebellion of this age."
Ryan rolled his eyes, apparently Pete was several years older than Nicole, this was...
Alright, Hollywood has never been one to rank people by age, strictly speaking, this first-line actress Nikki does have the qualifications to call him that, but...
"Nico, observe him a bit more." Ryan quietly pulled up her hand, Nico didn't mind either, subconsciously grasping his hand back, and asked puzzled, "Why?"
"I have a lot of ideas, and I need someone who is handsome enough and has an idol-like quality to play the male lead." He was referring, of course, to Tom Cruise's movies.
"You little devil, always thinking of something mischievous," Nikki said, pinching his ear with two slender fingers and pulling it gently twice.
"Nicki!" Ryan's eyes snapped open in anger.
"Alright." Nikki relaxed her fingers, and a bright smile burst forth on her icy face. "Rhine is a big boy now, never mind, I'm going to start filming."
The director holding the mirror is called Rob Reiner, who has a goatee like James Cameron and thinning hair on his forehead. He's said to be an experienced director, but sorry, he's already forgotten who the director was in his past life.
After shooting for just a few seconds, the director yelled "cut", and after repeating this several times, Ryan figured it out. Brad Pitt had starred in many works, but his acting skills were still a bit immature. In front of Nicole Kidman, apart from his handsome face and tall figure, he was simply pathetic.
He was very skeptical that after the release of this work, the male lead would become the object of crazy spraying by film critics. To know, in the previous life, Nicole's role was the most criticized, but the Australian girl perfectly combined her acting skills with her appearance, even if there were some vase-like suspicions, she was much better than Didi Moore in her previous life.
Soon, Ryan saw another key player emerge from the makeup room: Jack Nicholson, his face a map of wrinkles that inevitably brought to mind the many villains he'd played. The actor/writer/director had a similarly receding hairline and thinning hair.
Ryan inadvertently thought of the directors he had seen, except for young David Fincher, James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, and Rob Reiner and Jack Nicholson here, all of whom were bright-eyed.
Being a director is definitely the arch-nemesis of hair! Ryan shook his head and sighed, just thinking about his own image, he couldn't bear to do this thankless job.
As for wanting more power on set in the future, that's easy, just do a part-time producer, Hollywood is run by producers, not directors.
Ryan flashed a brief greeting with Jack Nicholson, although he was one of the four great actors along with Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman, but not as easy-going as the other three. His temperament was like his appearance, explosive, especially when it came to young people who became famous too quickly.
Apart from polite interactions, Rui En didn't want to have too much contact with him. Just by looking at the way he glanced at her, she could guess what he was thinking, and was afraid that she would also be categorized as part of the 'idiot' crowd.
As Ryan once said, no matter how excellent a person is, it's impossible to win everyone's favor. As long as the other party doesn't speak ill of him, maintaining this nodding acquaintance relationship is enough.
However, the old man's acting skills are indeed excellent, especially when playing paranoid, neurotic and villainous roles, it's simply penetrating, in front of him, Nicole Kidman and Brad Pitt are not even worth mentioning.
