Chapter 67 Terminator 2

  Chapter 67 Terminator 2

Someone once made a list of Hollywood stars who had suffered from facial paralysis, and Sylvester Stallone would undoubtedly be in first place because he actually had facial paralysis as a child. Who would be second? Bruce Willis or Arnold Schwarzenegger? There will be no dispute after Terminator 2 is released.

Throughout the film, Schwarzenegger's face remains taut. But then again, he plays a cyborg - who has ever seen an emotionally expressive cyborg with furrowed eyebrows? Especially one that is a killing machine.

Actually, in the filming, there was a scene that showcased this tough guy's acting skills. John had T-800 learn to smile, and after analyzing someone's smile with its own system, it forced out a smile.

Unfortunately, James Cameron cut it out when he saw the smile during editing, saying that it was too terrifying and would have caused a severe discomfort to the audience, and if not cut, the film might have received numerous complaints after its release.

In the conversation between T-800 and Sarah Connor, the culprit behind Skynet's creation, Miles Dyson, is introduced. Sarah Connor retrieves a large cache of weapons from an old friend, and single-handedly returns to try to kill Michael Dyson, thus ending Skynet's birth.

This scene showcases Linda Hamilton's tough and heroic female character, sometimes Ryan really can't understand why James Cameron, as a veteran playboy, would have hit it off with her. Is the aesthetic of foreigners really that different?

But he never thought that he himself was also a little devil!

Sarah Connor shoots Miles Dyson, but can't bring herself to kill him in front of his wife and young son; John and the T-800 arrive just then.

Mentioning this, it's necessary to bring up that Miles Dyson is no longer the same person as before, but Cameron still chose a black actor. In Hollywood's big productions, there's an unwritten rule that the biggest villain can't be a black person. Just like in those blockbuster movies Ryan has seen before, whenever a black president appears, they're always a positive character, while white presidents are mostly villains. This is also a kind of political correctness in movies.

Including films like "Deadly Shot" that feature a black villain, almost all of them suffered miserable box office failures and extremely poor word-of-mouth.

To prove it, T-800 peeled off the living tissue covering its arm with a knife, revealing the continuously moving alloy endoskeleton underneath, which became the best evidence.

  "Oh God!"

A burst of exclamations erupted in the cinema.

Miles Dyson agrees to help them destroy the lab at his company, but after they break in, they are discovered by a security guard and soon surrounded by police. After setting the explosives, Dyson is accidentally shot by a SWAT team member who bursts into the lab.

Facing the police's encirclement, T-800 stood at the windowsill, killing in all directions. The scene of Arnold Schwarzenegger holding a Gatling gun and crazily sweeping it back and forth will surely be mentioned repeatedly in the future.

After using the grenade launcher again, T-800's first-person view reappeared, scanning over to show a casualty count of 0.0!

Upon seeing this, Ryan thought of a similar scene in Terminator 3, but without the decimal point. It's clear that great directors and ordinary directors differ in these subtle details.

Despite the police's crazy attack, T800 remembered John's words and only injured their legs without killing anyone. After finally getting a SWAT van, he led John, who had obtained the chip and mechanical arm, and Sarah to break through the siege.

Just as mentioned earlier, how could there not be a black hero in the movie? Miles Dyson pressed the electrical switch when he was dying, blowing up the entire laboratory into a sea of flames.

The T-1000, who refused to be eliminated, has finally reappeared. He hijacked a police helicopter and the thrilling part of the movie has begun.

This scene was the most arduous shoot for Ryan since he started filming, several main actors were injured one after another, even though he was a key protected object, scratches and bruises increased by more than a dozen, when Nicole came to visit the set, she found out and ran into Cameron's trailer to discuss it with him.

This thrilling play left most of the audience in the theater holding their breath, afraid to miss any detail.

After a series of collisions between the liquid nitrogen tanker and the small pickup, both parties finally arrived at the final battlefield, a steel mill's steelmaking workshop.

A tanker truck crashed in the garage, releasing a large amount of liquid nitrogen that froze T-1000 solid. As T-1000 continued to force his way forward, his legs shattered and his entire body turned into an ice sculpture.

  "See you later, baby!"

The already heavily damaged T800 shot the T1000 into a pile of rubble, just when the audience thought the T1000 was finally done for. But then the molten metal from the overturned steel furnace slowly flowed over, and the T1000 was reborn in fire!

The T-800 and the T-1000 engaged in a fierce battle of pure strength, but the T-800 was ultimately outmatched by the T-1000, which pinned it to an iron table with steel rods, finally extinguishing its red mechanical eyes.

  "How did he... die?"

It wasn't just Nicole Kidman, many in the audience sighed, this diligent and flesh-and-blood robot had long since acquired a human heart in their eyes.

John Connor and Sarah Connor were cornered, transformed into Sarah's T1000, pushed to the edge of a fiery steel furnace. At this most critical moment, a red glow flashed in the mechanical eyes of the T800, the camera switched back to his first-person perspective... Backup power startup!

  "Squeak~ Squeak~"

The T-800 slowly pulled out the steel rod that had pierced his body.

  "Wow!"

Every time he appeared on stage, a warm and clear applause would erupt from the audience.

Sarah emptied the shotgun of all its shells, but T-1000 remained intact, shaking his finger at her in disdain. John and Sarah simultaneously fell into despair, thinking of making a run for it, when T-800 finally arrived via the mechanical conveyor belt and blasted T-1000's entire upper body to smithereens with a grenade launcher.

T1000 was unable to maintain its balance, shaking its body and falling into the steel furnace behind it. In the scorching hot molten steel, it desperately struggled before letting out a mournful scream and embarking on its final journey.

"Is it dead?" John Connor asked.

  "It is terminated!" T-800 replied.

John asked another question and then threw the mechanical arm and chip from the laboratory into the steel furnace.

"It's all over!" Sarah Connor let out a sigh of relief.

"No... there's another chip!" T800 pointed at his own head, "It must be destroyed!"

Then he handed the control switch of the transmitter to Sarah, "My program does not allow self-termination, you send me into molten steel!"

"No! No!" John blocked T800's path.

"I'm sorry, John! I'm sorry!" T-800 struggled to move its already inhuman body.

"No! It doesn't matter! I want you to stay with me!" Tears streamed from John Connor's eyes.

"I must go, everything must end here!" T-800 pulled over the iron chain and stood on the transporter.

"I order... I order you not to leave! I order you not to leave!" John wailed, frantically pushing against the T-800's heavy body.

"I now understand why you cried!"

After wiping away John Connor's tears with his hand, T-800 said, "But this is something I will never be able to do!"

  “Goodbye!”

After shaking hands with Sarah for the first and last time, under that classic musical accompaniment, it released its iron chains, slowly raised its thumbs, and sank itself into the molten steel.

The emotion of that moment was so strong that it took a long time to calm down. T800's self-destruction moved countless people, and some emotionally rich people even had tears in their eyes.

Undoubtedly, the final scene elevated the entire movie's theme to a higher level, making it a classic. Even after ten or twenty years, people who have seen this movie will still remember T-800's self-termination for humanity and that iconic thumbs up at the end.

Even with Ryan's performance in this final scene, outshining Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, the last shot undermines the advantage he built up throughout the movie.

Indeed, Ryan has confidence, whether in the eyes of the audience or critics, his acting skills in this movie are the most outstanding, but the most classic image of this movie will only be T800, this righteous and brave mechanical hero, with just steel bones and a firm expression, is enough to become one of the most classic robot images in film history.

When the subtitles fell, the first time was filled with warm applause, that earth-shaking sound, lasted for several minutes, no one would doubt the brilliance of this film, as long as the collapsing red empire didn't drag the whole world to play mushrooms, the movie would surely be a hit.

People attending the premiere came forward to congratulate the crew, especially James Cameron, who became the center of attention.

Of course, as one of the four main actors in the film, Ryan naturally has a lot of praise around him.

Most of the people who came over were old-timers in the circle, far older than him, and always liked to pat his shoulder, making Ryan feel a bit embarrassed and somewhat dissatisfied at the same time.

Fortunately, his height is growing rapidly and he will soon become a real little adult. However, for child stars, the most embarrassing period will also come earlier.

In Hollywood, the period between 14 and 17 or 18 years old is the most difficult time for child stars. They are too big to play children's roles and too small to play adult roles, making it hard to get enough roles, so they can only use some minor supporting roles to hone themselves until they successfully or unsuccessfully transition into adulthood.

Ryan developed a bit early, his height far exceeded that of his peers, and even many 13-year-old boys were not as tall as him. Thinking about playing roles like "The Sixth Sense" or "Home Alone", with a height of over 5 feet 3 inches, would be an absolute disaster for the movie.

In a short period of time, he is not ready to take on any more roles, anyway he isn't just relying on movies to boost his popularity and expand his influence.
