The day following the trip to the Ghozi capital Yorun wakes, teleports clothes on then the armour and heads to where he senses Ruukam the Giant emissary when Yorun walks into view he sees that Ruukam and Golanier are practically staring one another down causing Yorun to sigh before moving over to Golanier.
"Leave Golanier, seriously you will not be helpful when it comes to Ruukam and his people as a whole" Yorun said
"Alright, alright. Just know I'll be watching that Giant all the same" Golanier said before leaving after which Yorun walks over to Ruukam
"Hello Ruukam, the Ghozi have been spoken with so now its you and your peoples turn" Yorun said
"The Giants Collective only wants to get the measure of you, the elves allying with you is a good sign hence my being sent here but otherwise we need to know more of you and the future you are creating as well as how it all effects the giants. So tell me, how do the giants fit into the world you are looking to create?" Ruukam asked
"Simply put I'd say you misunderstand me, my goal lies within the Fiernian Empire itself maybe other parts of the world dependant what Raeknar requires of me. When this war is done another will be on the throne as I mentioned before but they will be no puppet, they are a good person and I am more than sure will do well by those who allied with me during the war and likewise once the city of Gantoral and its surrounding regions as well as this Fortress leave the empire whoever is in charge will also look well upon our allies. It all broils down to if you and the giants come to see us in a good light, thus far I have no personal problem with your people" Yorun said
"Yet you have the previous one under you?" Ruukam asked
"He is useful, at the time of my finding him and binding his soul I knew little of him overall and more than that I was exceedingly weak in comparison to how I am now. He taught a lot and this has been a form of penance for him as well. Suffice to say we both know that he upon going to Faelerm would be sent to Konlair but he's hoping for at least Dorancia so we shall see if it works out for him yet don't take his being here bound to my soul as animosity to your people" Yorun said
"We giants have a long memory and we don't like forgetting things, what he did was a lot so his presence surely won't be looked at well however he hasn't tried to harm me and given you got him to leave when arriving that alone makes me at least somewhat confident things will be fine in that department" Ruukam said
"Other than what has been discussed thus far how else do we 'get the measure' of me to properly foster good relations with your people?" Yorun asked
"I can set up a meeting with the collectives council soon in which you could speak with them and as such all yourself to make yourself out to be better than your predecessor one thing to aid with that will be these other alliances be it full alliances like with the elves, trade deals like with the dwarves and Djelir or whatever happened with the Ghozi. As I am sure you're aware your predecessor didn't do such things" Ruukam said
"Then set up this meeting, I had hoped to have this all sorted out today but that was hopeful to say the least" Yorun said
"These things are never so quick but I am admittedly believing things will be fine between you and my people" Ruukam said
"When possible coordinate times to set it up with the other emissaries, myself and Sunhale the other emissaries could aid in showing we are allied in several ways and we can work around any military operations" Yorun said
"I shall" Ruukam said
"For now though I shall go deal with the last two emissaries" Yorun said
Yorun then left the giant in the courtyard as he headed up toward the area at Ghairlakriars corpse where he had previously made several dragons as that is where he senses Yanikast and Dyre. When Yorun arrives he sees the two people admiring the corpse, the ancient scars and scales upon the statue-like corpse of the gigantic dragon.
"So admiring the body?" Yorun asked somewhat scaring the two of them who hadn't noticed his arrival
"Y-yes! Apologises for getting loud you just scared my soul straight to Faelerm as your people call it" Dyre exclaimed
"Indeed, practically felt my body fall apart already" Yanikast said
"I've come to discuss the trade deal with your peoples, things with the Giants have been put on hold so to speak until I can speak with their council" Yorun said
"Fair enough, so the Djelir and Dwarven governments wish to get dragon materials from you, Ghairlakriar is the most ancient dragon to date and most powerful any piece of her researched would drive everything we know of dragons forward such as their lineage, biology, magic and best of all for those like yourself weaponry and armour created from them. The dwarves have many incredible mages. We have long since wanted dragon materials to see what we can do with them for such advancements yet have been unable to get enough material to effectively research due to the lack of dragons beneath the ground, sure we have above ground settlements and traders that go to foreign kingdoms, empires etcetera etcetera but we are best underground especially alongside our Djelir partners" Dyre said
"Indeed and we Djelir are keen to see to it that the dwarves do this magical research as we are the realms leaders in technological improvements, we have few mages and as such prefer non magical ways that benefit all though we do enjoy the combination with magic of which the dwarves are our allies in, as such we want both our governments to get dragon materials to apply to our own collective research and own kingdoms personal research as well. We are pretty much willing to offer anything well within enough reason, you ask us to mobilise armies and fight your enemies we won't do that, we want these materials badly yet not going to sacrifice anyone's lives for them" Yanikast said
"Why are your governments so closely linked?" Yorun asked genuinely curious
"Ah simply put we both are peoples that primarily live under ground and we came across each other and decided to share what we could when it came to what we each lacked then some ancient kings decided on pacts that have been upheld for centuries upon centuries. Though admittedly if that hadn't happened I doubt it'd change much this has all been too fruitful to both our nations it'd be weird otherwise and we'd likely never be here in the same capacity we are these days" Yanikast said
"Anyway can we please get back to the negotiation?" Dyre asked
"Right right, you won't go to war for me but that doesn't mean you can't supply one, I do have some of the Djelir golem launchers and am admittedly curious on such items from you" Yorun said
"That is actually a co-developed item, the magical aspect coming from us dwarves while the mechanical firing and way it it got the magic to actually create the golem is from the Djelir" Dyre said
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
"Indeed but I take it items such as that are something that could be traded, we have several items that'd be useful for a war we could begin sending your way, anything else?" Yanikast said
"Simply put money and good relations as well as supplies for building things, soon enough sieges will become longer and far more intense plus should we win the war we will need the ability to rebuild areas affected by the war especially out in the Gantoral region given the city itself was decimated in a fight between the gods" Yorun said
"Fair enough, fair enough that it?" Dyre asked
"No there'll be plenty of finer details I am sure, Ghairlakriar is a big dragon with many different parts and as such each part probably has different value to you" Yorun said
"True, if you could take pieces from the corpse and come with us to the Convergence we could figure things out easier" Yanikast said
"The Convergence?" Yorun asked inquisitively
"Ah right, the Convergence is a middle point between our kingdoms and as such we have a shared ownership of it where the kinds of magical and scientific research that we do together is done, this dragon research would be included and as such we could bring samples and you can see more of what we can offer" Dyre said
"Guessing unlike the giants this is an immediate invitation and not a later date meeting?" Yorun asked
"Correct" Both Yanikast and Dyre said
Yorun nods and quickly takes several different pieces from Ghairlakriars corpse, membrane from the wings, scales, bones and parts of the organs and then reforms smaller versions of the organs using that much to the surprise of both Yanikast and Dyre.
"You recreated the organs in a smaller way?" Yanikast asked
"Yes, I've used her body to create smaller dragons and this would be the best way for your people to research, since I cant just give you the entire absurdly sized organ, the heart could crush multiple cities for example" Yorun said
"True I suppose, this'll be far more helpful" Dyre said
Yorun nodded and conjures a box around the dragon materials and just floats the box next to himself, once that was done Yanikast and Dyre teleport with him as well as the box across the realm and deep beneath the surface into a cavern. Yorun looks around and notes that the cavern is clearly mined out and with a large building in the middle which he and the other two stand outside of but he notes the two bridges to this centre point marked with different flags making it clear which nation is which side. Yorun looks over the nearby ledge and sees far below is a cavernous pit yet the land this middle point is on seems to have more buildings sticking out further down and even further up above. Yorun looks to Yanikast and Dyre who motion for him to follow as they walk to the door of the building it opens by itself and Yorun can feel the slight tinge of magic but nothing significant enough to open the clearly large metal door which is interesting to him. As they walk inside the sounds of djelir creations and magic from the dwarves intertwined is more than audible when before the door had opened it was completely silent. Yorun walks through the halls and to his left and right he sees into rooms where new inventions are being tested, physical non-conjured weapons that reform on command into a different weapon or piece of armour, weapons that work like crossbows but fire little items with a boom to signify its launch and fully animated suits of armour that launch bolts of magical lightning from their fingers.
"These are just things on this level, there are other places throughout the Convergence where other more magical or non magical things are done dependant on what is being done there" Dyre said
"Incredible, such I don't know fine tuned magic and yet so little in comparison to other things I've seen those suits of armour are like golems but far more refined, more magic used in them yet not for all the movement or at least as far as I can tell" Yorun said
"Come lets go to the dragon research level it was mostly abandoned until recently when we'd heard of you and we were sent so we can get some real ideas on the trade agreements there" Yanikast said
Yanikast and Dyre lead Yorun to a room with a disc as its floor which then floats them up on command to the dragon research level, there they find a group waiting for them with an older Djelir stepping forward and says something in a different tongue getting a response from the two emissaries.
"I can tell you're speaking about me even if I can't understand the words. So please don't be rude and talk around me" Yorun said getting the older Djelirs attention
"Apologies, been a while since I spoke with anyone not understanding djelir or dwarven language. So have you struck a deal with our governments?" The older Djelir asked hopefully
"Not yet the finer details will be worked out here once you have a look at the samples" Yorun said as he floated the box onto a nearby table and then de-conjured it allowing them all to see the materials from Ghairlakriars corpse
The research team immediately go over to the materials and start looking them over, scanning them and having some quick discussions in their own languages all the while Yorun leans against a wall and waits for them, after ten minutes they turn to him once again.
"Ok we've definitely got some questions or at least one that'd probably lead to another few. Do dragons have multiple hearts? From what we know you've got the biggest ones corpse so did it have multiple because you gave us a heart" The older djelir explained
"No, with my magic much like I did with the armour I wear I can form dead material into different shapes, I've created smaller dragons and as such am quite familiar with their biology now, I took material from the heart and recreated a smaller version from it, likewise with the other organs, assumed it'd be better for you" Yorun said
"Oh it is, its very much appreciated I mean this heart is incredibly strong and amazing at channelling magic I mean we could theoretically put it to use in our power generators after some testing" The older Djelir said
"Glad it was a good decision then" Yorun said
"It would actually be appreciated if you could give us one a smaller dragon you make though still preferably dead as it'd work well for seeing how everything is connected and works and such while still giving us the material afterward" Another researcher said
"If thats a request its something that can be sorted out as a part of he trade deal" Yorun said
The researchers look at the emissaries and quickly talk with them for a few minutes who then look to Yorun motioning him to follow, they walk away to a meeting room with him and sit down with Yorun sitting opposite them.
"Alright we're agree on sending you weapons and tools of which we have being made here to you that we believe is of interest to an army like yours. Furthermore the other things you requested earlier will be sent with every shipment, we could send something every two months during war time then once the war is done any continued trade would happen more frequently. What is requested of you in this instance would be the consistent sending of individual organs, smaller dragon corpses and possibly a fully undead one for research purposes as well as anything else requested of the dragon materials but they will be treated as specific commissions outside of the trade agreement itself if it is more out of the norm such as using your magic to create an entirely different creature from the materials" Dyre said
"Numbers per shipment?" Yorun asked
"We will send as much as we are able to in terms of money, building supplies and such which is more variable given our own lands needing such things whereas the inventions will be sent on a case by case basis typically different inventions get different amounts sent dependant on how big and/ or complex they are. The golem launchers are generally as one shipment sent in batches of fifty but something like the animated armours you saw would be only sent ten at a time, we would ask that you send one of each organ each time and any full dragon undead or dead is to be sent to us only with larger or unique shipments on our part. Is this agreeable?" Yanikast asked
"If we get it in writing then yes" Yorun said
A piece of paper is teleported Infront of Yorun on the table a simple written version of the agreement just discussed and Yorun as well as both emissaries sign it before two copies are made by the emissaries for their respective governments. Yorun gets teleported back to the fortress while the emissaries bring the agreement to their governments, Yorun sees Sunhale walking to him.
"So how'd it go?" Sunhale asked
"We'll be getting regular shipments every two months, suffice to say it's going to have some always useful stuff and some weird stuff, the Djelir and Dwarves make incredible things" Yorun said
"Glad to hear it, go and rest tomorrow we're going to plan with some elven forces on the next push forward" Sunhale said
Yorun nodded and headed to his room to rest while the trade agreement lands in the two governments possession and they more than happily accept the terms themselves and look forward to the future developments the deal will bring. Yorun thinks on future fighting all the while a certain imperial prince continues planning his own attack...
