Following the revelations from Yorun during the Ratashatar meeting, the leaders and dignitaries are quiet as the knowledge of ancient times processes. They know the gods have all the power and can do anything they please but the knowledge that their lives have been completely cut down due to the actions of their ancestors and the non-death gods is earthshattering. They fear like that haven't in a long time the consequences of the gods, Yorun however is taking a bit of joy in giving the earthshattering revelation and as such takes the time to explore the Ghozi capital a little. As he walks through the market he is greeted and bowed to by the Ghozi who see him as the chosen he is yet there is another who approaches him, Daerath and Yorun can just about tell this is the real Darath.
"Oh thank you for that, Rianshul laughed as the other gods panicked. They were quite happy with my illusion of Jinarl as well" Daerath said amusedly
"Well thank you for your help, you certainly helped get the point across" Yorun said
"Always fun getting to use illusions for such things, tricks are great and all but sometimes the best trick is revealing a truth" Daerath said
"Maybe so, anyway that all you were here for?" Yorun asked
"I am also here to tell you the other gods are furious, well not all of them but a good many don't like how this will shake faith in them, how it'll make others more wary of following their orders when the 'gods' of death could further erase time from them so to speak" Daerath said
"A warning then, thank you Daerath" Yorun said
"No problem my god has been turned into a bit of a fan" Daerath said with a little laugh before teleporting away
"Good to know I suppose, means I hopefully won't need to fight those illusions, that'd be very confusing" Yorun said
Yorun continues his walk and he looks at all the different goods of the Ghozi merchants bringing thoughts to his mind of the oddity that he can do this so casually.
"Browsing the wares of another nations market with funds available that were in the fortress. Richest I've ever been and yet it's so hollow" Yorun said in his head
Yorun continues his walk and uses his magic to scan the city feeling the presence of all the big names from the Ratashatar, Yorun given his experience with it can even feel the usage of the Darkness of Otaper within isailes chambers, he wonders what is being discussed but chooses to ignore it for now.
"So much divine magic swirling the city, either due to the chosen or just the general way the Ghozi are in their devotion. It's an odd feeling sensing it all like this, so different to the temple back in Deranel" Yorun said to himself
"It ought to be, it's been visited and blessed many times, the gods presence is seeped deeply into the stones of the city. It is intriguing" A voice newly familiar to Yorun said from behind him
Yorun turns and looks up a little to the metallic face of Rinc the First Elevated, the face is kinder yet clearly still, hard to move while the rest of Rinc's body is large and clearly made for labour, Yorun knows given his past that kind of frame even on such a different kind of body.
"Not exactly expected to be a politician were you?" Yorun asked
"No. I was something different once upon a time before the gods gave us souls, before our creators died to a plague and their greed, I was a simple labourer. Back then we were all naught but ordinary golems, memory of that time is strange. Remembering a time from when you had no mind, soul soul is... uncomfortable, it feels alien and almost dreamlike in it's oddity" Rinc said through the metal plate that makes up the bottom half of their face
Stolen story; please report.
"I can't imagine, though I admit my curiosity of your people. Golems with souls, creators that are not the gods technically anyway. Can you even die naturally?" Yorun asked as he began to walk with Rinc
"I take it your god has not spoken much on this?" Rinc asked
"Everything dies, I've gotten that statement but the gods even mine can be rather hands off, more than you'd think for their chosen. Things directly connected to the gods or otherwise cannot be found without the gods is not given for free" Yorun said getting a nod from Rinc in response
"Right. Well let me paint a picture, over ten thousand years ago we were just golems as I said, our creators were a race of snake people and as you can imagine they had many issues due to their biology including no arms for manual labour. They were adept with magic and they made us to lessen strain of the many facets of their lives, most for the manual labour but also other things, entertainment and peacekeeping were other uses for us. We were efficient in many matters but not medical matters as such after a hundred years of my... 'life' if we can call it that, I witnessed a plague be set upon them. Never discovered the original cause but for all that they had managed with us and magic they had failed when it came to medicine and more than failed with basic procedures surrounding it. When they whittled down to the last they gave up, soon enough we were all that remained in that empty kingdom and soon enough we too were to be gone" Rinc said
"Until the gods came" Yorun said
"Just so, there were only a few of us left those commanded by strong mages before they died had given all their magic to us. It had been years since then and and just as the magic within us was about to end, I felt... I felt everything, it was like... realising something happened that happened long ago and yet also hadn't. My newly fabricated mind and soul were as if a child was just born yet with the years of memories of a servant that watched a civilisation end but other than what I felt within, I also felt such warmth I never had. My mind was trying to make the right feelings to all the memories I possessed so I sort of knew warmth from flames and the like but this? This warmth was different and gentle then as my eyes opened I saw a being before me a woman seemingly of the creators race but I knew that wasn't the case, something indescribable about her nature and that was the moment I knew a god. Teirna the life bringer as your people call her, she gave me a soul then gave souls to the others" Rinc said
"For free?" Yorun asked confused and intrigued
"They must work transactionally but with us there was no transaction as we were nor truly living beings capable of asking or returning anything. We were created by mortals but we had nothing to make us mortals, we were things and as such we were whatever the gods wanted so the Life Bringer brought life and gave us souls" Rinc said
"Makes sense, so now that you truly live, can you die naturally?" Yorun asked
"Yes though we have no biological functions we can still degrade much as any material does, so too will our bodies but other than that there is the mental aspect, the magic of our souls runs through us as the creators magic once did which means without it we are cut off and die" Rinc said
"It's your magic however, why would it stop?" Yorun asked though he could hazard an answer
"We do it ourselves, as your heart pumps blood on it's own we must pump the magic ourselves, in time it becomes second nature we don't realise but a second of forgetfulness and we stop? The magic will never pump again" Rinc said
"So you rebuilt the kingdom of your creators and lived for yourself ever since?" Yorun asked
"Indeed, we've made new generations of golem as well. A lasting gift from Teirna the ability to create souls specifically in new golems" Rinc said
"That is actually incredible" Yorun said
"Indeed. You know I hadn't expected to be giving this whole spiel on my and the others history but I am glad you were curious, it shows you are a kind and inquisitive person" Rinc said
"Came here to test me a little hm? Your people were created long after the Kai Tamar extermination so that knowledge I suppose would be less worrying to you" Yorun said
"Less indeed but still worrying, death is death regardless" Rinc said
"Any idea what will await us tomorrow within the meeting?" Yorun asked
"The floor will be given to Durinkal, we'll see what words he has for us all" Rinc said
"He deserves none" Yorun said
"Maybe so, he has a voice here regardless" Rinc said
"Then as I said earlier, tomorrow then" Yorun said getting a nod from Rinc
Yorun teleports back to his room to rest as he thinks on the idea that new peoples could just spontaneously happen like this. The strangeness of that sudden existence and the way in which the nations could react, he ponders how the nations may have reacted back then to these living golems but then his thoughts wander to the next day, the day Durinkal could plead for anything upon the world stage and gain maybe some supporters, the idea makes his blood boil before he drifts off to sleep to be ready for the next day's events...
