The Triplets
Jonathan, Sam, and Andrew stood together and watched the terrified boy shiver before their captain.
Lance had already dealt with the sword but they were all watchful. James was an odd man. During the 6 years they had spent on his crew, they had come to trust him. He had earned their loyalty forever after the incident on Serenity Island.
But everyone on the crew knew James was different. It was the way he would speak with birds, and have whispered conversations with the wind. It was how the sea seemed to favor him and how bullets always missed.
James was special, that was clear to anyone who spent a moment with him. Those who stayed around though saw how he was quick to anger, his fierce protectiveness over what and who he saw as his, and his sometimes callous behavior. That wasn’t to say he was cruel or monstrous, it was just, at times he seemed inhuman.

Lance had been with him the longest and had told the triplets that their captain was raised by something other than humans, that he had more magic in him at times than blood. That was when you had to be careful.
Lance had also told them that as his crew it was their responsibility to remind him of his humanity, to be his anchor during the storm so to speak.
As the sons of a fisherman they knew that while the sea was a wild, deadly beast, it was also beautiful and filled with life. They likened their captain to the sea and did their best to navigate him like they did a storm.
“Captain, the boy. He seemed to recognize you.” Sam spoke up, he was the best out of the three at social interactions.
They watched as James turned from his hushed conversation with Lance and stared at the boy. “That true?”
