Chapter 10: The Dark King Prepares for the Journey

As Rash went to sit on the tree, Keiren called Light and mounted him. Light whinnied at Keiren.

"Alright, alright, I've never taught before, I don't know how to teach. I'm just trying to remember what I was taught and pass it on to Rash."

  Light whinnied again.

"If you remember, you’re welcome to share."

Light didn't respond and simply began to gallop. Within a moment, they reached the ruined village that Keiren had shown Rash in the vision, and went straight to the only intact house — the house where the boy had hidden — and Keiren entered it with Light.

"It’s never easy coming back here."

Light rubbed his head against Keiren. Two shadow arms emerged from Keiren's shadow and entered a hole in the wall. Then, the wall trembled and slid aside.

Keiren went down the stairs while Light stayed above. Keiren reached the circular room from the vision, approached the walls, and raised his hand. A circle of blue light appeared beside him. Keiren reached into the wall and pulled out all sorts of glowing fruits, placing them into the circle of light. Every fruit he took out was immediately replaced by a replica in its stead.

After Keiren finished, he closed the portal and walked to the black square in the center. He approached a gray box under the table and pressed a button on it. Suddenly, the black square lit up, displaying an image of a green field, blue skies, and a dark stripe in the middle.

Keiren sat on a chair in front of the table and pressed several squares on a rectangle lying on the desk. Then the square changed and displayed an image — several small squares with figures moving inside them. After a few minutes, Keiren pressed a square on the rectangle, and the square turned black again. Then Keiren stood up and left the room. When he reached the top, he turned around, and shadow arms emerged and closed the door.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Keiren went and mounted Light, whispering in his ear:

  "Going home."

The world blurred — and they were back in the forest clearing.

Rash, still sitting on the tree trunk, opened his eyes and saw them. Keiren signaled him to continue, entered the cabin, and opened the portal once more, putting the axes that were on the wall and various other things inside. Then he sat at the table and muttered to himself:

  "Someone survived, someone survived..."

And then he began to cry. After a few minutes of weeping, Keiren stood up, closed the shutters, and went to bed.

When evening fell, Rash stood up and saw that the shutters in the cabin were closed, but suddenly he noticed that behind the main cabin was a smaller cabin with a sign on it:

  "Rash's Cabin."

He entered the cabin and saw a bed, a table, and another small room. On the table was a folded note. Rash opened the note and read:

"Consider this payment for the intrusion into your head. P.S. I installed a shower for you. Enjoy."

Rash smiled and went to shower and sleep.

In the morning, Rash woke up and went outside. He saw Keiren standing in the center of the clearing, swinging a small axe in the air, and it looked as if Keiren was shimmering with a golden light that seemed to be absorbed into him.

"Good morning," Keiren said. "We need to talk."

"Good morning," Rash replied. "What happened?"

"There's something else I haven't told you about the restriction. The only ones who knew how to use it were the members of the Umbra tribe," Keiren said.

"And as far as I know, they are no longer around," Keiren added.

"Then they must have survived," Rash said in surprise.

"Exactly. And therefore, I’m going to offer you a deal: I need a guide, someone who knows the terrain and the locals, and in return — I will teach you the true art of Silarin. What do you say?" Keiren offered.

"I'm with you," Rash answered without thinking twice, bringing a smile to Keiren's face.

"Where do we start?" Rash asked.

"Right now we have one clue, and it leads us to the country you came from — Fangmore," Keiren answered. "We leave today at sunset. Until then — be ready."

Rash nodded and went to his cabin. In the cabin, he gathered his few belongings, and then noticed a small axe, similar to Keiren's training axe, leaning against the wall with a note attached to it:

"In case you agree — this is the first stage of your training. Enjoy it."

  Rash smiled and finished packing.
