Chapter 24

Amara and Asier returned to Nivara after a long and arduous war, a return eagerly awaited by both their people and themselves. The air was filled with joy and hope as the royal carriage passed through the castle gates, and the crowd gathered in the plaza erupted into cheers. The victory had been hard-won, but at last peace seemed within reach, filling everyone with renewed optimism.

When she saw the carriage approaching, Marchioness Barbara could not wait any longer. Her husband tried to stop her, but with her face lit up by emotion, she ran toward Amara as she arrived at the castle and embraced her tightly.

“Amara!” she exclaimed, her voice full of relief and happiness. “What a joy to see you! I was so worried. Ever since I learned of your kidnapping, I couldn’t stop thinking about you. I thought… I feared the worst. But seeing you here, safe and sound, is the best thing that’s happened to me in all this time.”

Amara returned the embrace with a warm smile.

“Thank you, Barbara,” she replied, slightly emotional. “Don’t worry, everything is fine. We’re safe. And I’m so glad to see you too—more than you can imagine.”

As Barbara surrounded her with affection, Amara and Asier saw Count Lucas’s wife running toward him. With tears in her eyes, the woman exclaimed joyfully upon seeing him return.

“Emperor Asier! What a relief to see you—everything is all right now! We were so worried. But now that you’re here, I know everything will return to normal,” the count’s wife said.

Asier smiled modestly, though it was clear he also felt the weight of emotion at the woman’s sincere affection. His face reflected the same relief everyone else felt.

When they entered the castle, the doors closed behind them, but the warmth of the place surrounded them, as if the entire castle were breathing in unison with the people who had awaited them so eagerly. María, Amara’s loyal servant and friend, appeared in the corridors upon hearing their footsteps. She ran toward her, visibly emotional, though trying to contain her feelings.

“My lady!” she said, her voice breaking with emotion. “What a joy to have you back! You have no idea how much we missed you—everyone here was so worried about you. It’s so good to see you again!”

Seeing the emotion written clearly on María’s face, Amara smiled tenderly. There was no need for many words; they could not express everything they felt. Still, she knew that an embrace would be enough to ease those pent-up emotions.

“Thank you, María,” Amara replied, wrapping her in a warm hug. “It’s such a relief to be back, truly. Everything will be all right now—you’ll see.”

María returned the embrace, her heart still racing, holding back tears. The emperor and empress had returned, and with them, the promise of a better future for everyone in Nivara.

Meanwhile, the magical creatures were returning to the forests of Nivara, where other beings were already waiting for them with joy. Baby dragons flew around the area, griffins walked calmly through the woods, and elves emerged to welcome them. Everything was peaceful, as if nature itself were breathing a sigh of relief at the peace now reigning.

The creatures who had fought alongside the humans were now returning to their land, to their hidden places, where they lived in harmony. A golden dragon rose among the mountains, watching the horizon as if it too felt that the time had finally come to return home.

From the castle windows, Amara and Asier watched it all unfold. The forests of Nivara, once filled with danger and tension, now seemed to breathe calmly as the magical creatures returned to their rightful places, reclaiming what belonged to them.

Amara and Asier went up to their chamber, finally alone after the bustle of the welcome and celebration. Moonlight filtered through the curtains, creating a calm and serene atmosphere. As they entered, Asier approached Amara and, with a gentle smile, said:

  “I missed sleeping beside you.”

Amara met his gaze, sensing something deep in his words—an echo of everything they had lived through.

“I missed it too,” she replied, her voice warm and full of affection.

They moved closer to each other and, in a gesture full of intimacy, embraced. It was a comforting hug, as if everything they had been through had bound them even more tightly together. They curled up in bed, feeling their hearts beating in unison, calm, knowing they were together in that moment of peace.

In the days that followed, routine returned, but with new challenges. Asier immersed himself in work without rest. With the expansion of the Empire of Nivara into the former territory of Aeloria, the task was monumental. The lands had to be reorganized, order restored, and everything prepared for this new chapter.

Many of Aeloria’s former inhabitants were called upon to collaborate in the process, and Asier sent representatives from Nivara to key cities in Aeloria to coordinate actions and provide the necessary organization. There were documents to sign, plans to review, and decisions to make—all to ensure the transition would be as smooth as possible.

Nico, his loyal assistant, was always at his side. With his characteristic smile, Nico helped Asier with all the paperwork and organization. He was happy to return to his role, to be an active part of this new empire. Despite the workload, he seemed content, as working with Asier was something he had always valued.

“I’m glad to be working by your side again, sir,” Nico said one day as he reviewed some documents.

Asier gave him an appreciative look.

“I know, Nico. I couldn’t do this without you.”

Meanwhile, in the castle, Amara also had her own responsibilities. Though deep down she wished to spend more time with Asier, she understood that building an empire was no easy task. And of course, she knew that Nivara had a bright future ahead—one they would build together.

For now, amid all the bustle and expansion, their quiet moments of rest became even more precious. Each night, when they returned to the castle, they found each other, embraced, and surrendered to the calm of each other’s company. And though the road ahead was still long, they knew that with the other by their side, nothing could stop them.

After a long and exhausting day of work, Asier and Amara were finally able to enjoy a moment of respite. The dinner prepared for them was simple but full of warmth, and when they sat at the table, their fatigue seemed to fade the moment they looked at one another. The dining room, usually full of life and movement, was now immersed in a quiet, welcoming atmosphere, illuminated by the soft light of several candles casting a warm yellow glow. Every corner of the room was bathed in that warmth, giving the space an intimate air that contrasted with the constant bustle of previous days.

Despite Asier’s long and tiring day, there was a peace on his face that only appeared when he was near Amara. It was as if, in her presence, all the stress of the day simply vanished. Amara, too, seemed relaxed, enjoying the calm that only came when they could be together. Her serene, satisfied gaze reflected how much she cherished these small moments of tranquility amid the chaos.

“You know,” Amara said suddenly, breaking the silence as she took a bite of her food, “my flowers are bigger than ever. The ones I planted in the garden almost look like a small field of colors now. It makes me so happy to see them grow.”

Her eyes shone with excitement as she spoke of her garden. It was one of Amara’s greatest passions, and he knew it well. The garden was her refuge—a place of peace and beauty—and every time she spoke about it, the joy she felt was evident.

Asier couldn’t help but smile at her happiness, seeing how her words were filled with love and affection for those small flowers. He knew how much satisfaction it brought her, and though his life was filled with imperial duties and responsibilities, he had always understood how important it was for her to have that corner where she could relax.

“I’m so glad to hear that. I love seeing you happy,” Asier replied tenderly, looking at Amara as she spoke. “Everything is going very well, and that’s what matters most.”

Their conversation flowed naturally, filled with smiles and soft laughter that eased the tension of the days gone by. Despite Asier’s many concerns about the empire’s future and the complex expansion process, he felt at peace sharing those moments with Amara. For both of them, those moments together had become essential—calm pauses amid the whirlwind of daily life. Though Asier was overwhelmed with tasks and responsibilities, he always found time for her, to keep their connection alive.

After dinner, they retired to their chamber, leaving the noise of the outside world behind. Candlelight continued to softly illuminate the space, casting dancing shadows on the walls and giving the room an even more intimate feel. The atmosphere was full of tranquility, but also something more—something deeper. Amara, her gaze filled with desire and tenderness, slowly approached Asier. There was something in her eyes that said everything words could not, a longing she had held onto for days.

“It’s been so long since we’ve had time for ourselves… to be together like we used to. I want to be with you tonight,” she said, her voice soft yet full of emotion.

Asier looked into her eyes, needing no words to understand what she felt. In her gaze he saw the same desire and longing he felt for her. It had been a long day for both of them, but together they felt the world could stop if they wished it to. Without saying anything more, Asier stepped toward her and, with a smile full of tenderness and passion, kissed her.

The first kiss was gentle, almost a caress, as they let themselves be enveloped by their closeness. It was a kiss of rediscovery, as if they were making sure that this long-awaited moment was truly happening. Little by little, the kiss deepened, as all the desire accumulated during their days apart finally found release. Passion grew quickly, as though time itself no longer mattered. Each kiss, each touch, drew them closer, and the outside world ceased to exist.

In that moment, there was nothing but the two of them, bound together in an embrace of love and desire. Their connection needed no explanation—everything was clear in that instant. Only they existed, for each other, and the rest of the world could wait.
