[Quest Created; Solemn Oath]
[Clear Condition: Terminate Subject SCP-106]
[Time Limit: 6 Hours]
[Reward: 12 Levels, Bypass stat requirement for Mythic Equipment, 15 Dungeon Rewards]
[Punishment for Failure: SCP-106 will now solely target you within the facility, SCP-173 Immunity will be revoked, Nine Tailed Fox arrives 1 hour earlier.]
The quest’s writings left a pit in Silas’s stomach, particularly the punishment for failure. If he were to fail to kill SCP-106, then, in six hours, he’d be the hunted rather than the hunter.
He looked around the room he was taking a rest in, and he noted the dead guard atop the elevator. He knew there was a slim chance for that to be him, and he left the room, just to find a card scanner down a left turn.
A locked door, one only openable with a keycard. Silas summoned the keycard from the depths of his Inventory, allowing it to appear with a light blue flash similar to the shade of the screens that torment him, and the timer still doing so. 20:33:32 ; 5:59:30.
The other timer taunted him, with his own impossible goal threatening his own life. He knew precisely where to put his newest stats at the very least… Not that it mattered, even if he were a tad bit more tanky or a bit stronger.
Power: 39 [+]
Agility: 14 [+]
Constitution: 10 [+]
Magic: 5 [+]
8 Stats Remaining
He tapped the intangible screen, and watched as his body acted against how it felt. Sort of like a virtual reality game, but it felt jarring. To watch your own hand stop at nothing. But he placed the stats, as practiced at this point.
Power: 42
Agility: 14
Constitution: 15
Magic: 5
With the stats all placed, he felt his strength surge, and he swiped the keycard. The little red light changing shades to a brilliant green as it shifted open. He noted how the quest allowed him to bypass the stat requirements for his mythical gear, which meant his current stats were likely still not enough, but he didn’t need a hundred in power.
And yet, Silas noted a minor problem in his current plans. He couldn’t get to the Entrance Zone, for that would be an automatic failure of the quest; and to fail the quest would mean to practically be required to kill SCP-106 anyways.
And to kill SCP-106 would likely be much more worthwhile with the quest active, but how was he to level up quickly in the facility as of now? Silas wandered through the halls, and noted the broken elevator he’d previously seen in the storage facility he was ensnared in upon escaping.
Silas kept walking forward, finding a chamber with an odd labelling. SCP-966. He didn’t quite enter the room and simply walked besides the bend, but a chill grew under his spine, and a system-message let him know it wasn’t a ghost.
[Affliction: Restless]
He felt his very energy seep out of his bones at such a faint rate, that he hardly even noticed were his Agility stat not boosting his thought speed far beyond that of a regular person.
He felt a thin breathing behind him, and he struck out against nothing. He felt his fist attach with nothing, but whether he missed or not was an unknown. Silas knew something was there, for there had to be something there.
[SCP-966; Creatures invisible to the naked eye, only visible with Infrared, and prevent their victims from falling asleep.]

And that was a minor hint to how to kill these things. That’s what the System more than likely wanted from him with the levels, to slay everything that stood in his way to the way out.
Especially after he listened to his greed in slaying Tanner. Listened to the System, with no punishment holding him to it. It wasn’t manslaughter under Duress, and Silas knew it. He glared at a random wall, making a bet that he was now hunted by SCP-966.
“I’ll kill these too if you reward me for it.”
The system’s response wasn’t instantaneous, and Silas waited with bated breath before he received one. It felt like hours, but he knew full well it’d only been 10 minutes, keeping distance from where his gut dropped.
20:19:11 ; 5:45:09. That was what the timers were at, when he was given a response. He had moved from the curved hallway into the chamber itself, with the wide open door, and strange goggles on the floor.
He moved swiftly, allowing his mind to rush towards what in the 9 hells this pair of goggles was, before putting them on. The System told him what they were, but he didn’t need to as he saw everything through a greenish tint.
And then he saw the weird creatures staring upon him, with such a terrible posture and thin form that it looked like a breeze would kill them. They looked starved, and the breathing was slow akin to a cat watching its prey.
Of course, it seemed unaware that Silas could now see it. And Silas would have to exploit this fact as he backed up into a wall. He counted just how many there were. Two, definitely not an unfair battle, especially with how slow the threat marched towards him.
He summoned his wooden bow to his hands, not caring for the time limit. He had only 23 shots with this bow, which while it seemed like plenty to kill these bastards, and the System likely agreed with the lack of a quest…
Who knew how this was going to go, as he nocked an arrow against the string. He dodged a singular swipe as he let the arrow loose. It flew through the air before striking one of the beasts as it flinched back.
[53 Piercing Damage Dealt!]
[-1 Durability]
And the reason it flinched was quite obvious with the numbers the System handed out, but it wasn’t dead just yet. So Silas, with a quick move in and a stab with a rusty longsword the system recently gave him the opportunity to take back his arrow.
[44 Slashing Damage Dealt!]
And with the beast looking half dead before the onslaught, he was ready to move to finish it off, but missed his own dodge against the other one. It slashed against his arm, and he felt the now familiar warmth of his blood seeping from his arm.
[-16 13 Health]
He was swift to react however, with the activation of a skill within moments to allow his arms to cleave through both opponents with his sword at the cost of just 1 durability and 50 mana. And a minute long cooldown.
[57 Slashing Damage Dealt!]
The first fell beneath the blade, and the second seemed stunned for just a second. That second was something he was not going to let run past him, and his timers kept up a watch on his cooldown.
[+15 Experience]
[Level 9]
[+8 Stats]
The second beast was next to fall however, even as the injury it inflicted was left to heal by the level up alongside the refill of energy from the skill’s loss. Of course, this one died swiftly shortly after with another sweep of the sword.
[46 Slashing Damage Dealt]
And now, the final one was left dead for good, and of course with it left him with no Experience to gain, but rather safety for a moment. And he leaned against the wall as he placed his sword back into his inventory.
He felt his growth was absurd, he knew it. The battle felt easy, with only two slashes needed for each to leave them dead, and he took off the Night Vision goggles. He let them fall into his inventory, and watched as the timer ticked down moreso. 20:16:34 ; 5:42:32
The System kept very careful track of the clock. He knew that the System couldn’t possibly make a mistake like that, but the way he was fighting for a few minutes at max… It made him wonder why he was given 24 hours in the first place.
He felt a shiver down his spine as he noted that every single quest used a large chunk of the time given, at least half. That meant the System likely expected him to actually escape in 8 hours from now, and maybe even would reward him with actually godly power in the escape.
Silas’s breath was slow again, and he felt like he could absolutely take a nap now. And so he did, letting consciousness slip enough for even the timers to quit bothering him for even just a moment.
