Hey Diary,
We made it to Dragon’s Pass! It’s been long enough since the earthquake that the city is mostly rebuilt now, although I think it’s different than how it was before. There are a ton of stores that are pocket dimensions instead of real buildings.
Oh, the Traveler’s Guild has pocket dimension rooms, but it also has normal, real rooms. The lady who is in charge of giving Guild members places to sleep says that it’s common for people with charm or psychic magic to not like sleeping in pocket dimensions. So that made me feel better. It’s not just me.
Dragon’s Pass is made of about half neko and half kobold. That makes their city’s culture… interesting. Not as loud or colorful as Mouse was, but everything is either neko-made-kobold-inspired or kobold-made-neko-inspired. I don't think I could really describe it without becoming totally confusing, so I won't. But yeah. It’s a neat place. Maeve and Maki really love it.
When we first got to the city gates, the guards had no clue what to do about the liondrakes. Two were kobolds, and one was neko. The neko looked like he wanted to cast sleep or something on the huge dragon cats, but the kobolds saw we had harnesses on them and were just in awe. After talking, they decided we had the liondrakes “tame” enough they weren't going to eat anyone, and let us in. They said we should take them to a couple Official places and get papers signed by various guild leaders saying we have the liondrakes under control.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Maeve always agrees that paperwork is a good thing which we need more of, so tomorrow we’ll be taking them to the head of the Traveler’s Guild, the head of the Veterinary Guild, the commander of the local Guard, and whoever checks that people with charm magic aren't evil here. Having them all sign papers saying we aren't sneaking monsters anywhere for mass-murder purposes will help us in the future.
According to Maeve.
I think she secretly just wants to spend more time here. Or maybe she just misses doing lots of complicated paperwork.
Oh, Luke went to the Runemaster guild to ask if anyone has figured out plumbing for pockets yet. They have, but it’s not great. So far the solution is basically to run a couple pipes through the portal into the pocket dimension. Since we have a wagon instead of a house, we can't do that.
Having a bathroom with a shower in our wagon would be nice, but it’s not a necessity. We’ve been doing fine without one.
Well, I’ve been doing fine without one. Maeve says she needs one for proper hair care. I don't see the difference, but she claims her hair and tail have been suffering from not being properly tended to every single day.
I would like a proper kitchen, though. Having a good sink for washing vegetables in is always nice. In general, running water is underrated. If I ever stop traveling and live in a real house again, I’ll never take the sink or shower for granted.
If it ever happens.
Which I doubt it will.
Signing off,
