Afterword to Arc One — The Mountain Village (nonfiction)
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for reading The Silent Kingdom / The Chronicles of Tirmeria — Arc One: “The Mountain Village,” to the very end.
This story began with an old woman, Amna, telling a bedtime tale (storytelling) to a nine-year-old boy, Maya, who lived in a small mountain village. In the first half, I depicted the nature of the mountain village, the changing seasons, and the lives of people who continue their humble ways of living. In the latter half, the episodes gradually began to reveal the world that lies in the background of this tale and hinted at what is to come.
Some readers who are familiar with many works of fantasy may already be able to guess what lies ahead. Various riddles have already been woven into this story—not only in the main text, but also in many other places. As the story progresses, these riddles will slowly be unveiled, though some cannot be solved by reading the main narrative alone. For those, I plan to publish additional tales or “apocrypha” in the future.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.
From here on, the story will continue with the journey and growth of the boy Maya at its center, expanding along the great timeline of this world and enriched by the diverse people around him. Though the tale of SK (short for Silent Kingdom) will grow broader and deeper, I wish to continue cherishing the presence of the villagers—their simple way of life, their joy in daily existence—such as those shown in Volume I. Precisely because this is a fantasy that spreads out like an epic, it is important to preserve that quiet humanity at its heart.
Please continue to walk alongside Maya in the books to come. And I would be most delighted if you, dear reader, could become one of the residents of this SK World and fully enjoy this story as your own.
And when you do, I ask that you always remember this:
This story began with a “small” bedtime tale (storytelling) shared between an old woman and a young boy in a humble mountain village…
