How May I Help You Today

The helpers wore the palest of green robes.

The most pristine helpers had offices and assisted with the most difficult issues.

Eleaza had never had true ambition not that flaring push to make her aim for the prestige of helping the highest and most powerful. She loved holding the hands of those who truly needed guidance. So despite being offered chances to move up Eleaza was still at the original help desk as when she started.

She had many regulars and she was well liked. Eleaza spent her entire day buzzing around getting spells and information for people.

She never regretted inheriting her father and grandmother’s magics. She never questioned the fact that she was a helper. It was something truly loved about herself.

So when the clearly powerful woman came up to the desk she stepped over with none of the fear that her comrades did. A powerful woman not wishing to meet with a specific representative meant it was either trivial or very important but the woman would prefer it to be viewed as trivial.

“Hello.” Eleaza beamed brightly. The woman looked surprised then smiled back at Eleaza. “How may I help you today.” She asked the silencing spell surrounding them to add a layer of privacy it wasn’t as strong as the spells on the office but only the Cultivator would dare to listen in on anything and only that was to keep the community running.

“Yes.” The woman sighed and glanced at her hands then at her son. Who was on the boarder of the sphere looking through the quick access magics for sale nearby. “You see I have two children already and I am getting up in my years and I thought I didn’t need to worry about such things anymore but a recent pregnancy of a friend has made me want a bit more precaution.” She explained.

It wasn’t the first time Eleaza had gotten this type of request and it didn’t take her long to find the correct contacts and information. She even shared the most subtle healers and potion makers as well as the verbal and written reviews she’d cultivated over time.” The woman listened. “I would prefer something I could get today.” She insisted. Eleaza thought that through and nodded helping her fill out the request forms and the payments before the order appeared in front of her. “Thank you very much.” The woman breathed holding the bag to her chest breaking the private bubbled walking to her son who stared at the bag.

Not that same day but only a few after that same teenage boy came in with a much younger woman then the one he’d accompanied before. This time he didn’t look bored more frantic.

“Bren.” He hissed but she pushed past him.

“My mother. I think she came in before.” The woman hiss. Eleaza smiled at her but didn’t share whether or not that was true because that was the privacy of the customer. “My magic is that plant and growth.” She hissed out. “My love his is of darkness and deterioration of living things.” She informed pausing Eleaza.

She knew all too well about that issue.

Her father had been a helper. Her mother had been a woman of command.

Technically relationships between anything but compatible magics was a crime. But the law was often taken as more of a guideline then a true law. Her parents before her father’s death were told simply that she would have to choose one path to follow and could tough the other. When her father died it became a bit complicated. She was so clearly helper but her mother was command and her new husband was compatible. So it seemed only right that she live with her Grandmother who was also a helper.

She hadn’t required much monitoring because she’d always been simply a helper in every way.

“My father an enforcer of societal growth and when he found out he was furious.” She hissed out. “Of course his daughter couldn’t break the mold he was pushing.” She snapped pressing a hand to her stomach.

Eleaza looked at the woman and her heart felt for her. She swirled through resources and couldn’t think of anything in her proper channels to help. The key word being proper. Eleaza was a collector of information she listened to everything someone told her even things that didn’t follow the rules. She’d never broken the rules but helping was her purpose.

So she gave her the contacts of those outside of their systems and she gave a note with her address.

“You may come to me at any time.” She swore. The woman clung to the things she gave her and Eleaza watched her leave the boy following desperately after his sister.
