Chapter 1: The Gambler, Joseph Pachinko

  Arc 0: The Introduction

Joseph Pachinko opens his eyes, he finding himself on the floor of his apartment. Standing up feels almost impossible, so he stays laying down. His head spun, his feet ached, and his back ached, feelings that he knew all too well. The shame of what he had done weighed on his mind. He had done the exact thing he planned on avoiding last night. He spent last night getting high out of his mind again, that could be the only explanation. He grabbed his phone, opening up his bank account. Another $500 burned from his savings, now he was in big trouble. This was how he spent most of his mornings, feeling the consequences of his late night gambling and doing drugs. He promised himself last time that he wouldn't do this anymore, by the same could be sead for the almost every other time before last night. His life is at a new lower, and looks to only be going lower by the day. The idea of a rock bottom both embodied and contrasted him. He owned almost nothing, however he always managed to find something to loss. Can't be at the rock bottom if you can keep digging down. He felt that, even though he was only 21, his life was already past its prime.

Joseph: "Ugh... That was supposed to go to my rent. I'm already behind a payment, and I don't think being behind 2 payments means I get to stay. If only Mom didn't kick me out... I know if I just got some job at a McDonald's or something she'd let me stay. Well I better start packin-" BANG

Joseph jolted up, as he heard a loud and thunderous boom coming from nearby. He looked at the door to his apartment to see 2 bouncers from the casino last night. He slowly backed up to the window, as the bouncers followed his pace. Their eyes were filled with bloodlust, and their grins filled with malice.

Joseph: "Hey fellas, what brings you here?"

Bouncer 1: "Don't act like you don't remember how much money you owe us for last night."

Bouncer 2: "Yeah, you punched one of our boys right in the jaw and shot off like... Um... Line?"

Bouncer 1: "You mother fuckin' idiot! We spent 30 minutes practicing so we'd look cool... 30 MINUTES!"

The moment they take their eyes off him to focus on each other, Joseph lunges at the window. Hitting it with enough forces to smash right through the glass, he begins to fall down from the second story of his apartment complex. Right before hitting the ground, it tears open and swallows him whole. As quickly as he was swallowed by it, reality stitched itself back up.
