(209)Chapter 3.5.5 – The Three Headed Dog. (Part 3)

  “Take this! Scorched Strike!”

A simple spell and strike but, it should do its job quite efficiently.

  Or it should have.

  Slash! Clink! Fire noises!

I raised my arms upwards as much as I could, as much as my body physically allows them to be. Then, with my Paladin White Sword pointed upwards I ready up my simple spell. Scorched Strike, a simple spell where you strike your opponent with fire that will scorch them as the flames present on it have temperatures that will achieve such a feat quite easily. A D rank spell just like Firebolt but in my hands, I powered up to S rank, strong enough to slice through Cerberus or it should have been. With the Paladin White Sword pointed upwards, I ignited it with said scorched flames, ones that have peaked at 2500 degrees in the initial “burst” that happens. Then, once I noticed that they were stable, with a quick, precise and powerful down swing aimed at his tail, I try to cut it down in half and yet, the same happens as before, telling me that I hit something akin to metal instead of a magical body, resulting in the same acute sound and making my strike somewhat bounce back but I still was able to smash his tail into the ground, although the damage from such might more than be questionable to say the least.

Welp, this was a failure and now I will suffer the consequences of such.

  Roar! Swoosh! Magic noises!

While I did strike his tail, it was not enough to destabilize him in fact, as quickly as he could he turned around and while doing so, he prepared something that we like to call Shadow Claw on his left paw. His claws grew by several times, not only in size but also in thickness, if before he could easily slice me with a single claw then now, he can demolish a good area of my body into nothing but a blob of blood as said area will be “decimated” from the initial impact made by the claw. Not only that, it also gains a dark blue colour to it. While he was turning around, that thing extended said left paw forward a few centimetres just enough that it would cover the small distance between me and him, facing the sharp side of the claws towards me as it does so. If I was weaker than him then, this would be it as I would be gone the moment those claws hit me, and I do mean it literally as I would’ve exploded into a bloodbath thanks to the initial impact. Even though those claws are supposed to slice me, the impact will prevent that from happening and if something like this happens to a human, there is no way he can survive such a gruesome and violent attack. Anyway, with a simple backstep I completely dodged said attack, however, I’ve now positioned myself in a way that I’m fully open to get hit by another Great Fireball or something like that, not only that, the way that he spun around he completely stopped once he was fully facing me. Because of it I’m now right in front of him albeit a few meters but enough that he won’t be able to physically hit me though as I said, that does not mean that he can’t hit me with a magic attack for example.

Yes, that’s exactly what he will be doing as one of his heads is preparing another spell but this one will be different it seems. Ah, a little variety I dare to say!

  Why am I excited though?

This time around it was a “simple” Blast Cannon, powered up to the middle of S- rank, more than enough to decimate those who are unfortunate enough to be in the path of such catastrophic magic spell however, to put it into an even better perspective of just horrifying it really is, said spell can most probably blast of the tip of a mountain although that will depend on its size of course.

  Swoosh! Blast!

However, as the Blast Cannon comes out from the massive magic circle in front of his middle head mouth, as it gains it’s cylinder like shape, one that his facing forward, as it is shot of towards me with great speed, easily covering the mere 20 meters that we have between us in an instant and even though said Blast Cannon had roughly 5 meters of diameter, I still was able to comfortable dodge it. I did so by jumping upwards and let me tell you, I did gain quite the altitude almost touching the ceiling with it. Quite the exaggerated jump not only that, as anyone can expect I’ve put myself in a peculiar position as I’m wide open after all, how can I dodge anything mid-air? He seems to be a little taken back by this as he was probably expecting to actually hit me and in the case it didn’t, I would have dodged it to the sides and yet, here I am mid-air. He does not waste any precious second at all, quickly preparing not one, neither two but three spells and all of them are different to make it worse per say. Once again, this beast has shown me just how much of a monstrosity it is as using two spells at once is a feat that those who can be called “sage” can do but three? Only those whose titles are like mine can achieve it. Ah man, if this was a different situation and he was a being with no relations to Shadows at all, I would love to know the full extent of his power and magic abilities. Though in this scenario that’s not the only reason as I also don’t want him to hit the ceiling as I doubt it can withstand that much force. Either way, even after using a Blast Cannon the head who did so is still able to use a magic spell right afterwards and the reason for this might be thanks to the other two heads as they might be helping him out as I actually doubt the recoil from such powerful spells won't affect him. To make this more evident per say, said head is merely preparing another Great Fireball while the other two are preparing much stronger spells, one of them is Shadow Ball while the other one is another Blast Cannon.

Three spells whose strength are in the S realm this time around, spells that can do great amounts of damage and to make it even dire, I’m the target of said terrifying spells. What can I do before this situation?

  “It’s actually quite easy.”

Ah, with a smile on my face, with my blue eyes burning with excitement and with a solid plan in mind, I let this out into the world and to those who might be listening to me although I doubt such a case. With two simple but quite effective Anemo spells, one to create a platform where I can stand on (Platform), while the other one will allow me to dash (Wind Dash) towards Cerberus with such speed that he won’t be able to finish any of his spells, as I will cover the distance between us in less than a blink of an eye. These two spells will accomplish 2/3 of my plan, meaning that one last third is to be done or in other words, I have yet to use a spell that will end all of this. Ah yes, one that is so powerful that I could easily pierce through him, shattering any armour that he is, slicing the impermeable fur that he has throughout his body, breaking any bones that he might still have and of course, stabbing through any organs that sustain his life.

Or in other words, an S+ rank spell, one that comfortably sits in the middle of said realm and one that was taught to me by the one that I lost in my very own arms.

“Oh spirits of the wind, hear my voice as call by thy!”

As I’m mere moments from coming crashing down towards him, I initiate my incantation and with it, not only a magic circle appears right in front of my left hand at the same time I also face said hand towards the blade of my Paladin White Sword. What I’m about to do is something quite simple. To describe that is. Actually doing it is a whole other “subject” per say, one that is basically impossible to “understand” unless you had someone from said “race” to help you out. Well, no need to go into much depth but I will be enchanting my sword with said spell or it’s more correct that I will be using my sword as a “vessel” for the spell as it will temporarily reside on it. Or something like that… I actually don’t remember the details. Oh well, moving on. The blade of my Paladin White Sword, one that not only is sturdy as the strongest metal out there, sharp as you can only imagine it to be, it also shines quite bright fully when I use its elemental properties, a shine that has a yellow tone to it, resembling the colour of a Holy spell, but thanks to the spell that I infused the blade with said shine never appeared but instead, it gains a soft green colour to it as a gentle but deadly aura surrounds it, one that is giving the soft green colour to the blade.

“As my voice carries my request for thy, one that asks permission to use thy spell! A spell that will decimate my foe and protect those that need me!”

I’m fully locked in. The blade of my sword is fully covered by something that shouldn’t be allowed to be used by humans.

And yet, here I am, the Hero creating such a forbidden phenomenon.

  Wind noises! Magic noises!

What I am currently doing is a type of magic that is used by High Elves but one that was created by Spirits. I won’t go too much into it as well, I’m in the middle of the battle so, let’s leave my unnecessary rumbling for another time. Yes, no need for me to waste precious brain power even though I’m currently thinking to myself… Ahem, the aura that was surrounding the blade of my sword has been transformed as I continue with my incantation, gaining a dark green colour to it not only that, something akin to a tornado is now surrounding the blade. The speed at the winds travel is nothing short of breathtaking as they could probably rival the speed of sound from the sheer high velocity they have and from the loud but acute sound they have, a “wiish” sound as they travel all around the blade with tremendous speed. As you can imagine, putting your hand in such winds will create something akin to what a butcher does to a pig, carefully but precisely butchering its body. Or in other words, the moment your hand is far too unfortunate enough to touch said winds, it will be precisely cut in pieces that won’t be visible to the naked eye from how many and small they are. Yep, they are that sharp and powerful to the point that steel itself would also suffer the same fate. However, this is also the time that I dash towards Cerberus as my incantation is a mere sentence from being done.

“I hereby make the request to use-”

  “Tempest - Aria!”

  The Tempest family of spells…

Such powerful spells that were able to even damage the most horrifying of the Demons, The Demon Lord. Spells that were able to drive back the Black Dragon that was terrorizing the land and its inhabitants.

  Fwoosh…

It was faster than any of them have ever witnessed. Both Cerberus and Miss Pink Orb have never seen anything like this and even though the strength of Tempest - Aria is “merely” S+ rank, slightly higher than both Cerberus and most probably her, the speed of my strike was easily something akin to an SS- rank spell, far, far faster than both of them combined. Yet, what happens next is something that I was not expecting but judging what happened to my early strikes, I should’ve noticed that something was and is wrong with Cerberus’ body.

It didn’t pierce through him is what I’m trying to say.
