  ...

  ...HATCH ALREADY!

  MRAH!!

When are you going to open?! It's been SO LONG! You've been hatching for HOURS!!

Mrah... I'm exhausted. Dealing with these strange turn of events is tiring work! First, I sense danger. Then my amazing and beautiful cat fire gets blombed out of existence by that ugly monkey-wolf thing's nose. Then it nabs me- I-I mean c-c-catches up to me mid-stealth and uses its well-trained sense of smell to locate my location quicker than I can react!

...Yeah. I didn't get grabbed off'a the floor like some radish...*Cough!* Ahem. Anyway. AFTER all that, my precious flower did some... weird sort'a stuff and basically poisoned the thing, which I totally planned. Yes I did. I just didn't know it would scream after I plucked one of its petals. Stupid flower. I'd stomp you if I- well, if I wasn't afraid of you spewing that black stuff on me or screaming again. For now, you will hafta stay in your tiny container. Whatever! I actually chased those enemies away! If this world was a game world, I would've gotten TONS of exp! Mrehehehe~

...Haah. If only life was that simple. If this was a game world, I would have had an easier time training! Screw the guessing and studying! I coulda just swung 500 times to level my 'skills' up, or opened a book and got a pop-up midair that told me, "Hey kid! You wanna learn my skill?" Or-or...! I could steal exp from humans and run! Mmrehehe!

"...But... that's nyot the case here."

I say as I casually kick a pebble, ignoring the slight screaming on my hip from the black flower, and the endless cracking of this egg I'm holding in both of my paws.

Right now I'm in an adventurer's camp - my first one! I'm carefully watching how they set up tents, set up the pot and stuff...but it doesn't look much different from Rei's methods - Just on a bigger scale, or it's easier positioning the pot with multiple grown men, stuff like that. Rei learned how to survive from that adventurer, after all.

At first, I was terrified. The adventurers were talking to the merchants as I grabbed my things and tried sneaking away, using my giant shield to hide my body. I suppose they didn't believe a shield could move on its own though, and after finishing their conversation, the adventurers were ordered by the merchants to do something. Those big oafs, I fought my hardest to escape after two of them came - one on each side of my stubby paws. I fought fiercely, wailing and screa- aHEM... I mean, kicking wildly and ferociously in a bout to show my power and primal, monstrous temper.

I fought hard...as I was carried all the way over to where they'd been setting up camp. Now I am just in a corner. For a few hours, those merchants, three of them, never left the carriage. Maybe they were counting their losses?

Then I watched one of them alight off the other side of the carriage, away from my view. Still, I managed to see their feet hit the ground! Maybe I can recognize them later on! Following this individual's departure of the carriage, the air warped around them and a vast gale blew about. Succeeding the fierce show of wind, an enormous yellow magic circle brightened the dirt road - and a vertical crack in the sky opened up. From within, a giant avian flapped its massive wings and broke through, then without pause, that same crack in the sky zipped up, repairing itself before vanishing without a trace.

Standing before the 3 merchants was a pelican. A giant pelican. Adventurers ran over and helped grab nearby goods, though the ones they were selecting seemed damaged and no-longer sellable. Just - just give them to me! I'll have 'em! A squashed potato is still better to eat then zero potatoes!

  ...

  ...

  ...Hm. Something's off.

Just... Just how many things are they going to stuff inside its beak?!?

  *GASP*

Wait! That trace of mana swirling inside its mouth faintly feels like the village chief's home! Is- Is its mouth, could it possibly be-?!

Can it double as a 'pocket dimension'?! Can its beak really hide vast amounts of treasure?!

Oh? Now the adventurers were given some toy bird with a letter attached, and it was winded up- ah! It flew in! It flew right inside the pelican's beak! Is this a messenger within a messenger sort of situation?

Well, the Pelican is now taking off. As it flaps its enormous wings, it blew a couple smaller-stature adventurers on their butts.

  Pfft.

One huge guy even tried blocking the wind pressure dramatically for his smaller friend.

After that was over, I see two more pairs of feet exit the carriage- ah. They're all wearing the same shoes. Worse, they seemed to mix around after I looked away, probably helping the fallen adventurers up, so I lost track of who summoned the pelican!

Mrah. Anyway, they're finally in view. A gorgeous, tanned elf - you can tell due to her pointed ears. I think they are either a unique kind of elf race that spends time under the sun, or she is a mixture of dark elf and forest elf? I'm no elf expert, though, so I might be wrong. She has a 'professional' vibe, in the modern world sense. Beside her, skipping, is a little girl with braids and a giant hat shaped like a stack of pancakes.

She is hugging a creepy, ugly doll really tightly. Its face appears traumatized, as if this doll has been through unseen horrors.

Smiling beside the two is an old man. He's short, but I don't think he's a dwarf. Honestly, he seems to be a completely normal, albeit somewhat short, human. At least I thought so before he sneezed and a couple of nearby adventurers slammed into a few trees by the side of the camp. The old man joyfully hobbled over to them, laughing like a wannabe Santa Claws.

Hehe, 'claws'? Get it?! 'Cause I'm- 'cause I'm a cat. Hehehe.

The elf seemed to be the first one willing to speak with me, as she made no detours and directly walked my way.

  "Excuse me, young-"

  "KITTY!!"

Before the elf can speak, behind her, the energetic girl began charging for me, dragging her tortured doll through the mud and soil below, caking its face with what looks equal parts mud and animal feces. I can almost see an ominous, foreboding blob of mana leaking out of the thing.

Stop!! Don't do that! That thing... it-it really looks like it wants to possess you!! Don't make it any angrier! Stay over there!! I just got here, I don't wanna die again! Stay back!
