## **Chapter 2: The Family**
Hi, I’m the narrator of this story. I’ll be your guide through this journey — a tale about people who are entirely fictional… or so it seems.
One fine morning, somewhere in London, in a small wooden and stone house that looked like it belonged to the medieval era, lived a lovely family of four — a husband, a wife, and their two teenage children.
Just as the alarm was about to ring, the husband, **Darwin Tanaka**, woke up and quickly turned it off so his wife, **Aleina Tanaka**, could sleep a little longer.
He took a gentle look at her — a look filled with love and compassion — and carefully slid out from under the blanket. In this house, Darwin was the one who cooked, so he quietly made his way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast and lunch for everyone.
Soon after, the children woke up and began getting ready for school, followed by Aleina, who started preparing for work.
Darwin and Aleina had two children — a boy and a girl. Their daughter was **Valerie**, and their son was **Vincent**. Both were smart, calm, and good-looking for their age.
Now that you know who’s who, let’s move on with the story. Don’t worry if things get confusing at times — your narrator will always explain what’s going on, alright? Good. Let’s continue with the day.

Every morning, our family has breakfast together. We always play some music — it might sound strange, but we don’t have a television in our house. The reason is simple: the world outside is already chaotic enough. I don’t want my children’s minds — or our daily lives — to be filled with that noise.
That doesn’t mean we’re disconnected from the world. We go to the movies, eat out, and enjoy life like everyone else. We just choose to keep **TVs and cell phones** out of the house.
Well, mostly. I don’t use a cellphone myself, but it’s still the 21st century — you can’t avoid them entirely. My wife and kids have their own phones and use them however they want. Since the government made the internet free worldwide, connection is no longer an issue.
After breakfast, my wife and I head to work. Coincidentally, we both work for the same company — just in different branches. My office is closer to home, so Aleina usually takes the car. Sometimes, when the kids get bored, they ride along with her.
Even though Valerie and Vincent get along really well, they tend to get into trouble when they’re together. So, we decided to send them to different schools. It’s been a few years since we’ve had any complaints, and I’d say that decision worked out perfectly.
Since my office is nearby, I usually walk. We live in **Fulham, London**, and my workplace is just a few blocks away.
As I entered the office gates, I heard a familiar voice behind me.
“**Darv! Darv, come on, man!**”
Turning around, I saw my dear friend and colleague, **Martin Chesterfield**. He’s a good guy — maybe the only one in the office I genuinely get along with.
Like any normal day, I worked, came home, cooked dinner, and waited for my family to return. One by one, they all came home. We had dinner together, chatted a bit, and went to our rooms. The kids did their homework, and soon enough, we were all asleep.
This has been our daily routine for the past **fourteen years**.
It’s neither boring nor particularly exciting — just… perfectly ordinary.
