Chapter 27
Titan took Glenda’s hand as he walked across the street to a small dinner. “You hungry?”
“Yes. I could use something to eat. Are you treating?”
Titan smiled at her opening the door for her. They walked inside. There was a booth empty by the window.
Titan led the way over. Glenda sat down and Titan sat down in front of her.
A waitress with dark eyes and beige uniform and pleasant smile. “We serve stack, burgers and fries. What can I do for you two young folks?” She asked.
Titan smiled. “I’ll take a stack and water. The bill is on me for the both of us.” He said.
Glenda smiled. “I’ll have tea and a large stack as well. Medium well.” She said.
Titan looked at the uniform of the waitress and her name tag. Floriance.
“Floriance. I’ll have my stack the same way.” She said.
Floriance nodded and walked away. Titan stared at Glenda.
“When did you meet my Dad?” He asked.
Glenda smiled, shaking her head. “I never had the honor of meeting him in person. We were pen pals and associates.”
Titan nodded his head. “So he helped you out a bit.” He said.
(Did my Dad tell you he was a oracle?)
Glenda stared at him and she nodded her head slowly. “Oh yes. He mentioned it himself and gave me advice on directions to go. Free of charge.”
Titan grimaced and he shook his head. “Free?! That doesn’t sound like my Dad. I think he wasn’t like that.”
Glenda frowned at him. “Your father was a gentleman. You remind me a little of him at times.” She said.
Titan stared at her. “Why don’t you feel bothered about how he set everything up like this?”
Glenda shrugged and smiled at him. “Your father’s words never fell to the ground.” She said.
Titan nodded his head. “Yeah. I know what you mean. I’ve been acting on his last words to me now. Something still doesn’t make sense though.” He said.
(Something doesn’t make sense about my Dad.)
Glenda stared at him. “Okay. I’m here share thoughts with me I might be able to help.”
Titan shook his head. “He had a way of figuring things out. He still couldn’t figure out a way to keep around.”
Glenda shook her head. “I believe if he could have lived longer he would have. I don’t think he intended to plan his own death.”
(Can oracles see their own death?)
Titan stared at her as he sent his thoughts to Glenda’s mind. This was the one question that had been bothering him.
It was the only question that really mattered to him and one he knew his father would never tell him.
Glenda sighed leaning back in her seat. “Some have been recorded to do so. Not all. Your father had a rare gift. It wasn’t an unlimited gift. He had his limitations.” She said.
Titan stared at her. “Did my Dad see what was coming for him?”
Again Glenda sighed in a tired voice. “I don’t know. If he couldn’t see his own death it wouldn’t be surprising.” She said.
“If he did see his death though. Why would he allow himself to die so easily?" Titan said almost to himself.
Glenda shook her head. “I don’t have an answer for you. I just don’t know. I’m sorry.”
“We’re going to a big dungeon raid. What can you tell me about it?” Titan asked.
Glenda stared at him. “Every ten or five years an event happens now with the dungeon system and dungeons going live. One major dungeon is going live as we speak.”
Titan frowned. He turned as Foriance brought two large plates of stakes and up of tea on a serving tray.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
She placed the food down on the table. Titan nodded to her and passed her five gold coins.. “That’s for the meal and your tip.” He said.
Foriance grinned at him. “Thank you young man. Enjoy your date.” She said with a wink.
Titan picked up his fork and knife and started cutting into his stack. “What’s this event called?”
“Ragnorock dungeon.” Glenda said calmly as cutting into her stack.. “It’s a major event that spans a large expanse of land. The time within the dungeon can range from a day to several months. Every hour is a day inside and every battle event against a dungeon boss can last days in normal time. ” She said and bit into a piece of her stack on her fork.
Titan blinked and stared at her. “A dungeon boss?! Are you saying there are more then one dungeon bosses inside?” He asked.
Glenda stared at her. “Yes. The strongest bosses are well over five thousand XP points and above.”
Titan chewed on his steak for five minutes as he thought about her words. “What's the longest you've been in a Ragnorock dungeon and how long is it in normal time?”
Glenda sat back. “I've never been in a Ragnorock dungeon. But the longest I've been in a dungeon is a day and two hours. Combat is not my specialty.” She said.
Titan nodded. “I suck at combat too. You seem pretty good at knocking me around with magic.” He said with a grin.
“You think your terrible at combat?!” She asked.
Titan shrugged. “I’m much better at finding things and figuring out battle strategies. I much rather like backstabbing an enemy.” He said in an honest tone.
Glenda stared at him. “How do you see yourself?” She asked.
“I'm in a rogue with other abilities and skills I can use to survive and protect those I value and love.” Titan said calmly. He grinned showing all his teeth. “I can also use my talents to get a lot of money.”
Glenda studied him. “What do you see when you look at me? In your planning and schemes to achieve your goals. What am I?”
Titan started to say something and then he laughed at as he remembered something his father told him once.
“What is it?” Glenda asked in a cold voice.
Titan still smiled. “My Dad. He had a way he used to say it about my mother. You’re someone I want to talk to. Someone I want to eat with. Someone I want to share a life with.” He said.
Glenda’s face showed no response to his words. “What was your first response though? Be honest.”
Titan smiled. “You're my girl.”
Glenda frowned. “Yes. But would you want me to do for you?” She asked.
Titan shrugged, picking up his knife and fork. “You’re already doing it. If I had to ask or demand of you then you're not my girl.” He said.
Glenda started to open her mouth but then she stopped. “You’re right. I have been doing everything you wanted.” She said,
Titan watched her calmly as his ate his stack slowly enjoying the pieces..
Glenda blinked as she came out of long silence. She nodded her head in private thought.
“You would do the same for me. No. You have been doing that. You know what I would need or want and you do it for me.” She said leaning back in her seat.
Titan waved his fork at her stake. “Eat up. The stake is pretty good.” He said.
Glenda stared at him. "I wrote a book on the history of the third Ragnorock event."
Titan nodded. "What was it like?" He asked.
Glenda stared at him. "Your father was the first and only person to be trapped in the dungeon and solo conquar it defeating all the beasts inside." She said cut into her stake.
Titan stared at her. "How is that possible? You said it was nearly impossible to complete a dungeon on your own without dying."
Glenda nodded as she chewed on her stake. She stared at him.
"How was no one else able to get inside as well?" Titan asked.
Glenda shook her head. "The event was limited to select condition of it's own. A solo event that hasn't been done or created sense."
Titan frowned. "Hmm. That event was a minor mini Ragnorock event?" He asked.
Glenda shook her head. "No. Ragnorock events are all major dungeon creation evetns. They always follow major shifts in our realm." She said.
Titan stared at her. "He never told you or anyone how he did it?" He asked.
Glenda made a face. "He told me about his second class. I figured out that he must have prepared ahead of time for such." She said.
(Oracle was my Dad's second class?)
Glenda nodded her head. She continued eating staring at Titan intently.
Titan sat back in his seat. He frowned. "Is it normal people to have more then one?" He asked her.
Glenda made a face. "Yes and no. The research on the topic is still being done. Nothing is conclusive as of yet. I was hoping to gather more information from your father on his methods of success in the dungeon. But he had very little to add beyond the report he gave." She said.
Titan stared at her. "What age and level was he when he went in?"
Glenda grimanced. "He was fifteen and but he was already at rank fifty fighter. He was taught by his father personal to fight."
Titan's gaze shifted away. "Did my Dad ever say why he and his father had a falling out?" He asked.
Glenda's a face flushed but she nodded her head. "Yes. Ah. Um Your Dad's father had been away ah commiting criminal acts at an important time in your Dad's life." She said carefully.
Titan's face formed a sardonic grin. "You mean grandpa was robbing a bank while my grandmother was in the hospital dying." He said.
"Ah. Yes. That is what Mr. Young told me." Glenda said quietly.
Titan grimanced. "I don't want to know who he is if my Dad told you. I'm good on that. I tgot enough bullshit to deal with in my life." He said.
Glenda nodded silently saying nothing more.
