Ice is Strong, Some School Days

The next day Wicke couldn't help herself and got a spontaneous lesson on the fundamentals of science going. The morning had been somewhat in normal keeping for the class, a field trip, this one focusing on Ns' communication ability, and getting Rosa practical experience helping pokemon. The scientific method was luckily universal. But then Creig had to explain atoms, and states of matter. Since some states of matter were of the same name as types, this added further confusion till Creig managed to explain, while there was a relationship in some, others were partial or wildly different. Creig couldn't help compare the states of matter to classic elements. Light-protons, Fire, Gas-Air, Liquid-Water, Solid-Earth, Crystal-Ice, and one that should be recognized, but hasn't been looked into, Darkness-Umbron, where to find, the center of gravity wells. Then how atom chains were molecular bonds, how high vibration broke bonds and low vibration encouraged them, but if the vibration was close to stopped it was probably already bonded.

For the last hour, as a break from the intricis' of basic science and just how interconnected specialties actually were, Creig brought out his basic analysis of the type chart. It focused exclusively on type energy, but not on it's nature, nor on intrinsic stats or on move qualities. The biggest surprise, even for the professors, was that psychic was the weakest type overall, Creig had to reiterate that type wasn't everything, psychics tended to have the best mystic attack abilities, and most utility moves. The other surprise was that dragon type was twelfth of eighteen, it was their natural strength that made the type strong. Mallow and Guzma were upset that their types were just barely above psychic, Creig could point out that grass had the greatest amount of ailments and healing, and bugs tended to be fast, also bug type complemented steel so well that it's only weakness was fire when joined together. If you managed which opponents your pokemon faced were four times weaknesses really that bad? Camerupt & Groudon were super effective stab against 8 types, did any other combination do that?

As part of his afterschool Creig actually analyzed that data, as both single type and double type ground and fighting were monsters in attacking with super effective, though ground still edged out fighting. fighting had 2 doubles with 9 type coverage, and 2 with 8. Ground also had 2 9s', but had 5 8s'. though for the nines one was ground-fighting, but surprisingly the type that gave the second 9 to both was Ice. Creig double checked that, it was true, the options: Crabominable, or Mamoswine, Creig chose Mamoswine, it was three stage and crabominable gave Creig the willies for some reason. Creig didn't remember but there was a fighting-ground type, it was paradox pokemon Great Tusk. Not that Creig knew metagaming, he was just blown away by type coverage.

Wednesday Kakui and Creig agreed to history/geography and lore, an overview. To keep the morning from being derailed they brought traditional snacks from other regions, which also took care of lunch. What interested most was that almost every region had sacred or mystic ruins, or that in places that were now wild there used to be kingdoms. Alola had its' ruins but those were far less abandoned than others, that some places had lost nigh everything was shocking to many, that many were waiting on "chosen ones" more so. The spark of adventure had their imagination and fantasies almost off the rails.

Creig found his lesson interrupted by many questions, the ones he should answer and shouldn't were hairline sometimes, or required clarification. For a question like "How did people make war" there were two answers, No Legendaries to stop anyone, and I'm not giving you bad ideas. The fact that Gaias' history was half continental sized was a great difference that the professors were actually interested in, as ninety some percent of pokemon history was regional, maybe including one other region. Creig also brought to attention that his world had conflicting religions whereas the pokemon tales either agreed with each other or didn't overlap. What threw the students the most off was that only a couple places on Gaia had every terrain type in close proximity the way the pokemon world did. There was too much for one session, but an overview of dead religions (mythology), folk tales (precursor to fairy tale and legends), and "living" religion, of course Creig only believed one was fully true.

Foongi decided to do training spars with sandshrew in the evening, they were all conditional, like using mist for hide and seek. Rosa was concerned at first, but between Foongis' determination and Creig setting clear limits she came to accept it. He also got Rosa to act a bit like a trainer by getting her to at least cheer Foongi on or call out if she saw movement and where from, helping, not ordering. This raised the two enough to learn a new move each, Foongi had needed it more than sandshrew, but it was good for both of them. Kakui was extra about the whole thing, as professors had a tendency to do to encourage the young and beginners.

Thursday was when things began to actually move in the "background history" of Alola, in short Tapu Koko finally showed up. Professor Samson actually led the morning lesson, focusing on the differences between pokemon, people, and animals. Samson focused on behavior patterns, and the effects caused by biology and environment. Creig was going to follow up with a morals lesson, but when they went to make lunch a picnic Tapu Koko was just outside to door. It stared at Creig, taking him in, then judging him, it took a quick look at N before focusing back on Creig. When the Tapu drew up some energy people almost scattered or came to Creigs defense, Creig held a hand to the side to have them stop.

"It's not an attack" The Tapus' fairy energy then flowed into Creig, exploring him, Creig felt something break/sheer off his spirit, he was disconnected for a moment, but it quickly repaired as nothing vital had been harmed. Creig did nearly fall on his bum in sudden exhaustion though. What broke off then used the Tapus' energy to take forms of their own. Three distinct forms, Creigs soul energy made two transform type energy into elemental energy, one primordial nature, the other a ghost wrapped in the energies, the third form remained of pokemon nature.

Illusionary images appeared, icecaps, frozen mountain tops, tundra, blizzards, hail, snowdrifts. Winter took form, an ice cube which shaved into the form of a young woman. Four wings sprouted looking like frosted panes of glass, snowflakes became lace clothes, a dress, stockings, and gloves, none sharing a pattern matched in being mismatched. Her hair was like a glacier cracked into five pieces, moving slowly, a yawn while she awoke showed teeth of icicles, the front needles, and the back as if broken halfway, tongue reminiscent of an iceberg. Out came smoke as from a chimney, now through her translucent skin it was as if one could see a cozy hearth before warm wood floors, entrancing in a wholesome way. A little did she change, taking on ideals of Christmas from Creig, red and green stained her clothes, her ears slightly pointed, but not truly elongated, and a cap of translucent bronze with it's own inner fire and smoke (like how angels have been described), and pine tree parts became accessories, anklets, rings, bracelets, and necklace wreath. So was a winter spirit, a home fairy born.

The groans of trunks, the rustle of leaves, a smell of grass and herbs, and an undertone of decomposition and soil. The vaguely humanoid shell of a spirit became more and more defined. Soon a feminine variation on Creig floated/stood a head and half shorter, with pointed ears half again as long. Spirit matter formed into barbaric fur-lined leathers, overlaid with chain coat, steel vambraces that interfered not with the movements of her hands, Practical steel boots and greaves, with ankle gorget. The thick leather belt around her waist had an American soldiers medkit upon the right, and a moderate quiver upon the left, half filled with ghostly arrows. The unknowing would refer to the spirit as an elf, but this was in fact an alf, an older spirit of folklore, those arrows were diseases that would ravage those shot with them, and her hands were more proficient at healing than a surgeons, t'was her very nature.

The last was something more normal to the pokemon world. As if the moves blizzard and hail were used, snow and ice swirled in a median area. Aurora began to flash within as pink tinted winds caused the storm to coalesce, eventually becoming an egg that was patterned such that it subtly looked as snowy hills in a blizzard with subtle pink tint on the drift crests and wind. Creig caught it before it fell, feeling how it was alive. Tapu Koko looked slowly between the new beings, then at Creig, then looked again.

  "Tapuuu, Ko,koko, tako"

"N, I'm pretty sure this is a time to ask for your help" N nodded and stepped up in response.

"That first bit was just it talking to itself" Tapu Koko looked at N

"Tapupu Ko, o, pu, ta ,puko"

"yes I understand, also it called you strange for a faller"

"As far as I know I'm not a Faller, Otherworlder, yes, but I don't have the energy of the ultra wormholes, and this is not my original body, it seems crafted for here"

Hala ran up at that point "I wasn't, huff*, finished, wheeze*, explaining, huff*, what, hoo*, are those?"

"Tapu?, Tapuuu?, Tapu", The Tapu tried to get close to the fairy, she upturned her nose and moved to the other side of Crieg.

Everyone looked to Creig. "That's an actual faiery and that's an alf, and this is a pokemon egg, probably also female" Raised eyebrows, with Rosa opening her mouth to ask, Creig cut her off "When God made Eve/woman he took from Adam/man, the material to make her, as such woman came from part of man." Tapu Koko nodding in understanding ended the questions.

The rest of the days schedule was thrown out in favor of a conference with Tapu Koko. Kakui tried bringing pokeballs for the fairy and elf, Creig stared at him with a, what are you doing? look, before taking one and showing that it was non functional upon them. The Tapu wasn't put off by Creig sticking to his beliefs, but did indicate that it needed to speak to the other Tapu. It also tried to recruit N, going so far as to say that he was welcomed back after his destiny played out, even in between it playing out. With interesting people like Creig and N around, Nate and Rosa were almost overlooked, Tapu Koko patted their heads in appreciation for their willingness to be helpful. N, Nate, and Rosa were invited to take the island trials, Creig was too old, but so was Samson when he came, for now he was a welcomed guest, and may earn honored guest status.

Hala grew more and more nervous as they got closer to why Creig was special. Tapu Koko asked, Hala started by explaining what had been revealed and verified, how it was helping regions. The Tapu was awed, horrified, and sympathetic to others problems. Hala talked about the coming of Cosmog and Necrozma in the future, to which Tapu Koko was merely, it's nice to know in advanced, but was ultimately inevitable. But Halas' continued sweating was starting to unnerve the Tapu, Creig broke into it, caveating that this particular part was yet to be verified, the betrayal by a Kahuna, Hala hung his head and explained the lack of communication and circumstantial evidence. Tapu Koko left assuring it would be looked into, with a hard set to its eyes. Literal dark clouds hung over Melemele unnaturally, with occasional cloud thunder. Hala, Kakui, and Samson went around and assured everyone on the island that it wasn't directed at them.

N was shaken by the demeanor change, and the pressure that came with it, a display of a power he would become much more intimate with, Nate and Rosa as well. Rosa stayed near N to help him get through it, Nate called Interpol to give an update in light of meeting a Tapu. Crieg was giving the four beings he was now responsible for nicknames, Sandshrew first, the plan for the little guy for now was sliding, sleds, ice, Toboggan, he would be called Toboggan. The Fairy, winter, Christmas, her cap was like the angel or star atop the tree, all-seasons, evergreen tree, Evgryt, The Alf a fun house mirror of himself, he took parts of his own name, Furcry, the first two syllables of his first and last name. The egg, what would he call her when she hatched, snow-drifts, fox dives, Shrift, he decided. That decided it was time for everyone to go to bed.

  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The other Tapu were wierded out, Tapu Koko usual called one casual meeting, either to discuss upcoming island trial matters, or because it was bored and wanted to set up an all island tourney. He had called two casuals, three urgent, and worryingly, an emergency meeting, emergency meetings meant major problems for Alola or for the world. When Koko arrived, he was wary, as wary as Hala had been, his Kahuna had been right, some of this info was sensitive. He put forth that two pieces of intertwined urgent news must be presented first, for some initial context, not addressed quickly, just presented. Lele and Bulu wanted to get straight to the point of the emergency, they wanted to go back to peace, Fini just wanted to hear quickly, Koko had to insist. A foreigner to the very multiverse of worlds shocked them, the "prophecy" that had so far proven 50% right and 10% wrong had them groaning, it definitely provided context. Then he asked if they wanted to hear the emergency now, address what had already been presented, or hear and address the other issues clearly displaying his nervousness. The others just asked him to get through the emergency, saying the others were taken aback and reeling was an understatement. A Kahuna turned traitorous was serious, Fini and Lele rushed off to bother their Kahuna for verification, Bulu was muttering to himself that he chose a strong protector, while waiting for the return of the other two Koko comforted Bulu, circumstances had changed faster and more drastically than expected, technically the world as a whole was becoming a better place, in line with the will of Arceus as the Foreigner put it.

When the other two returned they confirmed the concerns of three Kahuna, scouting would be needed, they would address the other matters first. While most thought Creigs matter was something that could go either way, the Tapu decided early that he was fine to be here as a guest, his protection was a necessity, his "prophecy" and how he presented it truthful, the rest was philosophical to prepare for unseen outcomes. Cosmog?, the part of the prophecy concerning Alola, they agreed with Tapu Koko, nice to know when, other than upping the strength of the islanders wasn't much they could actually do, it was mostly in peoples hands. Hearing about a full communer like N had the Tapu excited in a good way, they agreed with Koko invitation to him, they were also glad his path had been turned to true heroic, no longer a victim. They found Nate normal, he was interpol, even without destiny he would be a hero, Rosa, they mostly didn't care, Lele liked what she heard. With all that done they had to get to the sad work of confirming treason, it would not be a good week.
