Quick update for the week.

  I’ve now completed Chapter 44 and am currently working on Chapter 45.

  Progress was a bit slower than usual this week because the chapters I worked on were particularly work intensive. These sections covered several major moments for Grub, including his first spell evolution, his class selection, and his first free spell choice. Each of those decisions required careful work to make sure his internal reasoning and decision-making process felt logical and believable.

  On top of that, the following chapter contains the wad preparation council scene, which obviously ended up being very dialogue-heavy. Those kinds of chapters always take extra time because I have to carefully shape the conversations so that everything flows naturally, makes sense for each character involved, and does not feel clunky or forced.

  Narratively, the story has now moved all the way through the winter arc. Chapter 46 will mark the beginning of the next major development, with the Ironfang preparing to move out toward the Duskroot tribe.

  In other words, the next stretch of the story will shift toward the conquest of the Duskroot and the expansion of the Ironfang’s influence.

  Plan for the Upcoming Week

  My goal for the coming week is to push through the Duskroot conquest arc and the follow-up section back at the Ironfang cavern, where the surviving Duskroot goblins are slowly broken down and integrated into the tribe.

  As I move forward into what I consider to be the stronger sections of the original story, I’m hopeful that the rewrite process will begin to speed up somewhat. The chapters ahead are ones that I felt were already written at a higher quality than the earlier material, so they should require less restructuring and heavy editing.

  If that holds true, progress should begin to pick up.
