Chapter 34: Coordinates

  Chapter 34: Coordinates

Shade looked into the deepest part of his being and saw the nefarious smile moving spiritually, as if asking for attention.

  “What do you want?”

Shade whispered, the nefarious smile answered back… Why didn’t you run to your captain the moment you left the spirit world?

Shade thought for a moment and noticed something he has been wondering for some time… So, they can’t hear my inner thoughts.

“It would look strange if I did go straight to the captain after leaving the spirit world. I already lost control once, the others are probably watching me much more closely after that moment.”

Shade stopped for a moment to look at the silver fishes in the temple waters. He wanted to ask something to the cold gaze within him.

He decided that there was no point to continue thinking about it, better to get it over with. He was a bit usure how to word his question but thought it best to be a bit respectful.

“Former saint of the silver moon goddess, I ask the reason why you took over my body,”

A quiet moment fell upon the three sharing a body. The cold gaze thought of what to say. He decided to be as thorough with his answer as he could.

Shade noticed the change in what he presumed to be an expression on the cold gaze as it answered… No need to be that respectful when talking to us. We could be called parasites, it is your body.

You ask the reason behind me taking over your body. All I can say is that I noticed the disparity between you and your opponent.

You should have had no trouble noticing that rather large detail as well. However, because of your approach to your identity in the mystical world, that sense was blocked.

To be as detailed as possible, because you separated your human self and mystic self, you created a gap where no emotion nor understanding of limitations existed.

To survive, I used that gap where you were neither human nor mystic and took over control of your body.

But this came with other complications.

The gold gaze shifted his attention to the nefarious smile. As if noticing the meaning behind the cold gaze’s words, the nefarious smile laughed softly.

After it stopped laughing, the nefarious smile decided to chime in… And that was the story about how I was borne.

Shade shuddered as he heard the nefarious smile talk. The cold gaze decided to continue his explanation… You can think of him as the resulting fusion between your separate personality as Mr. Magician and the remaining traces of a sentient saint characteristic after taking over a body.

As numerous thoughts flooded Shade’s mind, he decided that it was best to let it be. He knew that he had no choice but to live with the fact that he has two freeloaders in his body now.

The both of them could technically be called saint characteristics, they are his spirits… I need to think of names.

“This is a bit late, but what should I call the two of you?”

Shade made sure that only he and the saint characteristics within him could hear. The cold gaze thought for a moment and then sighed… As he is the result of your Magician persona, let’s call him that. And as for me, let’s use my former codename.

Shade couldn’t help but get a bit exited. He knew pieces of information on what and who the cold gaze was before his death. However, when he asked Ms. Silver what his name was, she simply answered with, “Ask the moon.”

The cold gaze could feel the attention of the Magician and Shade. He was reminded of the time he was an active knight in the silver goddess church.

As he spoke, the water in the temple rippled and the silver fishes turned their attention towards the young man in a black suit… My name is Judgement.

  …

Shade decided to walk the rest of the way to Rouge’s office after talking to Mr. Judgement and Mr. Magician, his excitement was still visible… When I become a saint, will I have a full deck of the tarot cards made of sentient characteristics within me?

After knocking on the door, a voice told Shade to enter. Sitting in his leather chair, Rouge was reading reports.

  “Mr. Rouge, I have theory!”

“Then go to your neighborhood mathematician, I have work to do.”

Shade fell quiet. His excitement disappeared as he heard a joke which he did not find funny. Mr. Rouge looked up from the reports on his table and looked at the young man in front of him as he talked.

“Not the right time for high society jokes, noted. What is your theory, and of what?”

Shade shook his head and looked at the muscled man in his early thirties. Shade heard Mr. Judgement comment in awe… Now this looks like a well-trained knight! How wonderful to have someone with his dedication to muscle training in the church!

Shade couldn’t help but agree, Rouge’s shirt looked like it was specially made to fit his bulging muscles. In this time and age, no one was anywhere near as muscled as the captain.

“From what I know of the spirit world and mysticism. Isn’t it possible to set a spirit world coordinate in a building with another coordinate?”

Rouge thought for a moment, he drew on the mystical knowledge he had learned from his now dead comrades.

“Yes. Some mystics use the spirit world as a meeting place. As you know, the spirit world, demon world, and human world are layered upon each other.

One location in the human world has the same coordinates in the spirit and demon world. But why is that important?”

Shade calmed himself as he prepared his next words. As he was no longer using his persona as Mr. Magician, he felt nervous.

“Any change in the human world is represented in some way in the spirit and demon world. The same principle applies in the reverse. What if you used the coordinates in one building and set them up in another building.

Wouldn’t that create two buildings with the same spirit world coordinates?”

Mr. Rouge thought for a moment before answering Shade’s question.

“No, the spirit world records everything. The change in coordinates in one building would only be secondary to the original building.

Meaning that nothing would really change except the location where you show up if you enter the spirit world. However…”

Rouge thought for a moment. As a well experienced mystic that survived for years in the mystical world and the slaughter of his sect branch, something was bothering him with his answer.

Rouge looked at the young man as if looking at a golden egg and then bellowed a laugh before speaking.

“If you set multiple buildings with the same coordinates then interfering with divination is possible.

While the primary building will remain unchanged, because there is a need for the spirit world to go through the records of which buildings are first, second, and third, you can create an overload by making multiple buildings the secondary building.

Simply finish setting the coordinates at the same time and now there are more than one building occupying the same place in the spirit world records.”

Shade could barely keep up with what Mr. Rouge was talking about. He decided to ask a question to his now overly excited captain.

Rouge had lost most of his previous team to Gourmet, he had every reason to hunt and kill every last one of their members. Now such an opportunity might be right in front of him.

  Shade asked Rouge a question.

“Is there some way to find these secondary buildings?”

“Even with divination, it will be difficult. However, we have something no other sect, cult, or church has.”

Rouge answered with a mad smile. Shade thought for a moment before asking his question.

“What do we have that they don’t?”

Rouge smiled expected Shade to ask this question. He pointed to the ceiling and spoke with a calm and reverence.

“We have the silver moon. The only god that happily responds to her followers with silver light. The only god that speaks to her mystics on a daily basis.”

Rouge rushed out of the room and headed for the central platform to pray to the goddess. He used his spirituality to enhance his voice and call out to every mystic currently in the building.

As they had still not resumed working on the commissions, every mystic including the saintess rushed to the central platform to meet him.

While rushing after Rouge, Shade asked a question to Judgement. Judgement answered happily… Yes, she does spend much more time socializing with her followers and mystics than every other god.

Usually, gods send a revelation or order to their mystics once a month at most.

  “Usually?”

Judgement laughed dryly. He sounded cold and distant, as if he was remembering something he would rather forget… Except in war.
