Insufficient balance
Professor Cao shook his head and looked at Ye Yizhe, saying: "Russell is indeed a great philosopher, but his greatest achievements are in mathematics. Many of his ideas no longer hold true in today's society. If philosophy cannot provide the final answer, then what is its significance? I'm glad you can offer your opinion, it shows that you've been listening all along. I hope every student can express their own unique views, for philosophy is about gathering everyone's strengths."
"Professor Cao, I have great respect for you. First of all, I want to say that I didn't mean to offend you in any way. Except for the last sentence, I agree with your previous views and benefited a lot from them. As for the issue we are discussing now, it should be attributed to the essence of philosophy. Master once told me a story, which I would like to share with all my friends now. Of course, this is just my own idea."
Ye Yizhe, however, did not take the opportunity to back down and instead continued speaking directly, his eyes firm and resolute. Yu Zitong and Xiao Yuling were both taken aback, and even Professor Cao didn't stop him, but rather listened quietly. They could all see that this was a gaze of someone pursuing truth, stubborn and unyielding, leaving others helpless.
Everyone was watching Ye Yizhe and listening to his story.
"In the past, in a pigpen, there were ten pigs. The New Year arrived, and the sales of pigs were very good, with people coming to buy them every day. As a result, the pigs who had never worried about food or housing for the first time encountered a survival crisis. One unlucky pig didn't even have time to leave any last words before being pulled out of the pen."
The story began, accompanied by Ye Yizhe's vivid narration, the whole audience burst into laughter. Ye Yizhe didn't mind at all and just kept talking.
Among the pigs, there was one that was the strongest and most powerful, who was everyone's leader. He thought that the pig that had left had been taken away to be killed, so he arranged the order in which everyone would be taken out, putting himself last. The lead pig wanted everyone to call him Pig Qin Shi Huang, and any pigs that didn't listen would suffer a severe beating from Pig Qin Shi Huang, and wouldn't get any food for the whole day. So although everyone was dissatisfied, they didn't dare say anything, because the pig giving orders was just too strong and powerful.
In the pigpen, there was a small and thin pig who couldn't reach the food trough, slept on the edge of the bed, and was squeezed out by the other pigs. The small pig saw that the unlucky pig had been taken away and felt envious. He told the other pigs, "My master must have stretched out his merciful hands to take that pig to heaven for a good life." This is what great honor! The other pigs didn't believe this pig's nonsense, but he insisted on cutting off one of his own feet to prove himself, scaring the leader pig into half-believing. After all, no one had seen where the pigs taken away from the pen went or how they ended up. Looking at the small pig's fanatical expression, the leader pig decided it was better to believe than not to believe and appointed this pig as "Pig Foot Pig", letting him lead everyone in worship and putting himself first on the list of those to be taken out of the pen. He burned incense and bathed, praying for divine protection. The next day, his wish came true, and he was taken away from the pen as he had wished. The son of the leader pig, Pig II, inherited his father's throne and continued to rule the pigs with cruel beatings and starvation.
The teacher of Pig the Second, Squealer, was a pig who liked to gaze at the stars. After thinking about the fate of the first two pigs, he secretly wrote "Pigism" on the fence post for Pig the Second. Squealer believed that the unlucky pig and the leader pig did not live a good life after leaving the pen, but were slaughtered as food. Above the empirical pig entity, there existed an eternal pig-eater, whose task was to feed pigs until they were fat enough to be eaten. His three-part argument made Pig the Second doubt the conclusion of Pigfoot, and he ordered Pigfoot to be put on the list of pigs to be taken out of the pen first to verify his crazy theory that fat pigs go to heaven. On the third day, people took Pigfoot out of the pen but brought him back because he was too thin, giving him better food and a single room. Pigfoot claimed that he had been resurrected and would judge those who were disloyal to the master in the distant future. The fact that Pigfoot returned to the pen made Pig the Second deeply believe in his prophecy, and he no longer believed Squealer's words, ordering the burning of the fence post with "Pigism" written on it and executing Squealer. People found the dead Squealer, took away the dead pig but also took away the fattened Pigfoot. Pigfoot left excitedly, looking forward to his resurrection and final judgment N years later.
The "resurrection" of Pig's Foot sent Pig the Second into a state of devout frenzy, and he prayed fervently throughout the night for deliverance and redemption. At dawn, people took away Pig the Second, and his brother Pig San Shun ruled over the remaining five pigs, but by then a rumor had already spread among the pigs: it was said that before Pig Li Si De died, he secretly told his friend Pig Li Liao that if he died, people would definitely carry his body across a road behind the pigpen, because this road often transported at night the bodies of animals that had died abnormal deaths, such as those that had succumbed to plague. Therefore, if Pig Li Si De did not look up at the stars, he would not have discovered this secret. So Pig Li Liao secretly opened his eyes when everyone was asleep and found that indeed someone was carrying Pig Li Si De in a snakeskin bag on their shoulder, with Pig's tail still exposed outside. Pig Li Liao secretly announced this secret to everyone, and the pigs were shocked and believed that the rule of the Pig Shi Huang dynasty was cruel and wrong, which made Pig San Shun extremely angry. Pig San Shun brutally beat Pig Li Liao and forced him to retract his statement, saying he was wrong, but this did not solve the problem - a pig named Pig Da Lin led the pigs in overthrowing Pig San Shun's cruel rule and pushed Pig San Shun to the top of the list for expulsion from the pen. They established the Pig League and elected Pig Da Lin as the representative of Pig Yi. On the sixth day, people took away Pig San Shun.
After Pig Sānshùn was taken away, the remaining four pigs began to discuss their future. Pig Lìluō suggested that the four pigs should draw lots to decide who would go out of the pen first and who would go last, which made Pig Dàlín unhappy. So he beat Pig Lìluō like Pig Shǐhuáng, Pig èrshì, and Pig Sānshùn, and put him at the top of the list. The remaining two pigs, Pig Kē and Pig Dé'gēěr, were outraged and intimidated by Pig Dàlín's behavior, and they all said that Pig Dàlín should go out last. Pig Kē didn't care much about who died first or last, saying that Pig Lìluō had already proven that the God of Pig Foot was dead, and for him, the physical body of the pig was also dead. Pig Dé'gēěr also pretended to be nonchalant, but actually he wanted to die after Pig Kē, so he declared his loyalty to Pig Dàlín, planning to spend the next few days in frustration, fear, and disgust. However, on the seventh day, which was Sunday, a big buyer bought all four pigs at once. Pig Dé'gēěr found that he had humbled himself to no avail, and was extremely angry, so he joined forces with Pig Lìluō and Pig Kē to beat Pig Dàlín to death. However, this still couldn't change their fate of being transported to the slaughterhouse. As they wailed and cried about their miserable pig lives, a ghost pig named Pig Lǐdá lifted its head from Pig Dàlín's body and hummed eerily, "This is an era of chaos!"
"At first, the unlucky pig was named Piglet Grady, now it has become a breeding pig in the pig farm. Seeing the pigs' awkward appearance, he laughed and said: 'You bunch of pigs are all my descendants!'"
Ye Yizhe said with a final "heh heh" laugh: "This is an era of chaos and disorder, yet fate has entrusted Piglet Grady with the heavy responsibility of restoring order to the universe."
The whole room fell silent after he finished speaking. The crowd, who had initially thought it was just a joke, didn't dare to make a sound from halfway through, fearing they would miss something important. Even when he finished speaking, no one noticed anything out of the ordinary, with thoughtful expressions on their faces as they pondered the meaning behind Ye Yizhe's words. Even Professor Cao had fallen into deep thought. It wasn't until he came back to his senses and looked around the classroom that he realized Ye Yizhe, Yu Tiantian, and Xiao Yuling were all gone.
Looking at the direction they left from the door, Professor Cao muttered: "Maybe I am that pig Gradti."
