Arthur stepped back and moved his massive body away from Amaryllis. Because of his great strength, he unintentionally shook Aveline off his hind leg, sending her tumbling to the ground.
Amaryllis quickly stood up and rushed to her sister, gently calming her while stroking her head.
"Don’t be afraid. Everything is fine now. Mr. Wolf doesn’t want to hurt us. On the contrary, he’s going to help us."
"Really…? Is that true?" Aveline stopped her tears with difficulty and glanced at him, doubting his intentions.
"Yes. Mr. Wolf is a noble and generous beast," Amaryllis said firmly.
Arthur wasn’t good with children in general, but he didn’t want to act rude. He tried to look a little friendly and showed a small smile.
Or at least, that’s what he attempted. His savage face wasn’t suited for such expressions.
Instead of looking kind, his smile appeared extremely creepy and suspicious, like the evil wolf in children’s stories. That made Aveline tremble in fear and cling tightly to her sister.
'Okay… that hurt my feelings a little. I don’t look that savage, do I?'
He shook his head in disappointment. The situation was becoming even stranger and more ridiculous. Without wasting more time, he regained his seriousness and said coldly,
"Go. Leave this place. I’ll hold the humans back for you."
When she heard that, Amaryllis’ emotions turned complicated, and doubts filled her mind. She looked at him anxiously and replied,
"But, Mr. Wolf—"
Before she could finish, he interrupted her with a firm voice.
"There’s no ‘but.’ I can’t fight and protect you at the same time. And I don’t plan to sacrifice myself for you. If I find myself in a bad position, I’ll run.”
The words froze in Amaryllis’ throat. She realized she had already asked for too much. Any complaint or sign of dissatisfaction might backfire and make him change his mind.

She suppressed all her doubts and replied shortly, "Understood."
She grabbed her sister’s hand and helped her stand, then said firmly, "Thank you. If we survive and meet again, I’ll make sure to repay this debt, even with my life."
"Good." Arthur nodded indifferently. He didn’t take her words seriously. Most likely, they would never meet again.
As she turned to leave, he suddenly remembered something and stopped her.
"Wait. Take this."
"Yes, Mr. Wolf?" she turned back, confused.
Then, out of nowhere, a glowing stone appeared on the ground in front of him. The moment she saw it, she recognized what it was.
Her eyes widened in shock. "A Mana Stone… But, sir, this is extremely valuable. Are you sure you want to give it to me? I can’t accept this."
Arthur felt satisfied by her reaction. He had given her the stone to confirm that Mana Ore was indeed as valuable as he had hoped.
Not wanting to drag out a pointless discussion, he replied coldly, leaving no room for argument, "Are you questioning my generosity? Take the ore and leave quickly."
Inside, he sneered. 'Be grateful, girl. If I didn’t know the location of an entire cave full of ore, you wouldn’t be getting anything from me.'
Amaryllis couldn’t find the right words to express her gratitude. She didn’t even have time to think of what to say.
Woof!
Suddenly, she heard the terrifying barking of dogs and the neighing of horses.
She grabbed the stone, pulled her sister along, and ran as fast as they could, desperate to get as far away as possible.
Arthur watched them disappear behind the trees and bushes, then turned in the opposite direction.
There, he saw a group of massive F-Rank dogs charging toward him, and about 300 meters behind them, five humans riding large horses.
Sigh!
' I wanted to avoid fighting humans… but there’s no choice. Anyway, all I have to do is delay them, scare them a little, and hope they don’t force me to kill them.'
Even though his new life was full of death and killing, he had no desire to slay his former kind, especially since they weren’t targeting him directly, and his life wasn’t really in danger. This whole situation was completely unexpected.
For a moment, he felt tense; his body trembled involuntarily. But he quickly regained his composure, extended his claws and bared his fangs, and unleashed his overwhelming aura.
The moment the lead dogs sensed it, their pupils shrank, and they froze, unable to move another step.
Arthur didn’t give them any time to recover or for the humans to react. He pounced with full force, and since their necks were protected by spiked collars, he targeted other vulnerable parts of their bodies.
Groan!
He slashed with his dagger-like claws, tearing through their heads and stomachs with ease due to their weakness. Blood, entrails, and brains splattered everywhere as they fell, lifeless.
Neigh!
“Calm down.”
Behind them, the horses neighed in terror, rearing onto their hind legs as the humans gripped the reins tightly, trying to calm them.
At that moment, Arthur directed his overwhelming aura toward them. The horses panicked even more, and the humans felt a wave of fear so intense that their bodies froze for a moment.
The horses kicked the air like mad beasts; some fell and rolled in the dirt, while others fled with all their strength.
The humans riding them leapt gracefully to the ground, hands on their weapons, eyes fixed on the strange wolf before them.
Cold sweat ran down their foreheads, and the atmosphere fell silent. The two sides stared at each other.
Arthur examined their bodies and faces—three men in their thirties, a woman, and a young man—then activated his "Evaluation" skill on them.

The "Evaluation" screens that appeared before him were completely different from the usual, which surprised him a little. He thought:
'Classes? Equipment? This is truly interesting. It seems the "Evaluation" skill works much more efficiently on humans compared to monsters, where often only their species name and Rank appear.
I don’t know if this applies to all monsters, or if I just haven't met any powerful or unique ones yet.’
