Alright here we go! Combination Q&A/FAQ here, gonna answer a few questions I've gotten, or confusing things. If you have any questions for me feel free to ask them in the comments down below! Also, if you have a question for a character (no matter how minor, or how alive) ask and I'll try and answer as the character, assuming it doesn't spoil any important info :P
Q1: How tall is Temate exactly? And more importantly, can I climb him like a tree?
I never did specify this, and it was only until a friend started reading it and asked me, word for word, the questions above. On his character sheet I wrote 6'5", and yes you can climb him like a tree if you ask him nicely (or beg, he likes that too.)
Q2: Why is everything called Power? It's confusing!
Same friend and I don't know if anyone else has had trouble with this so I'll answer it here: There are two main ways I use 'Power' when talking about the power system I have here.
[Power]s specifically refer to what would traditionally be seen as Skills, Abilities, Passives, etc. Anytime somethings in those square brackets it's the name of a [Power] or someone saying things in a way to make it appear as a name cause people fake that stuff sometimes.Power/power refers to the actual energy that a person has to use already activated powers, or empower inactive ones. We'll get into some more granurity to that in Volume 2There's a few reasons for this terminology. For starters I wanted it to be fairly unwieldy. It was hinted at, but even the people of this world don't exactly have a great way of referring to this stuff, that's just what's popurized and feels right. I also wanted it to be generic, to suggest that no one really understands them even if some cough Voel cough act like they do. Another reason is just cause I want to make certain references to quotes about power, and some puns, which didn't really come up in Vol 1 but will in V2. Finally I just thought it sounded neat and makes it clear what they are, while helping further differentiate it a bit from the cssic isekai 'level up and get skills' systems that it is branched from.
Q3: Honestly that's all I had, most everything else has been answered already, I deyed writing this until now to give time for more to come up but I'm gonna take the ck of questions as my excellence as a writer to convey things, feel free to prove me wrong by commenting questions down below!
Joke aside I'll use this space to give a quick 'what's next', as I've already mentioned March of Bone will be on break for a few weeks. Probably till the first week of October (technically September 30th) or so while I figure a few more things out and look into what publishing stuff looks like. I've read worse stories then this that have been published so why not me eh?
Don't ye worry though! I won't be gone. Starting next week I'll be posting the pilot of "Perfect World" and "Grim Tales" (names are WiP but those are my best ones right now)
Perfect World will follow an unspeaking legendary member of the Exterminators, a specialized private military organization in a far future utopic urban world. The Exterminators specialize in eliminating the... 'problems' that arise from the abandoned sectors of the city, biological horrors, extrapnar monstrosities, and mad robots. Ya know, cssic utopia problems right? It is told from the perspective of a young, orphaned girl who shadows the Legend in the hopes of becoming an Exterminator like her.
Perfect World will aim to be a once a week story every Wednesday. It will also repce the Wednesday slot for March of Bone when that goes live again, partially cause I found three chapters of one story a week was burning me out near the end, but also cause I don't wanna just pause it, and I don't wanna try to do four chapters a week xD.
Grim Tales is a series of short stories told through the framework of a travelling Necromancer in the same world as March of Bone! The mysterious "Traveler" allows spirits to tell their own story by inhabiting him and use his magic to retell their greatest tragedies and triumphs! Many of the stories will focus around the Travelers ancestors, the Hero Twins from whom the Traveler inherited his [Power] and many of the memorabilia he carries.
This will likely be sporadic as it's a bit of a writing challenge for me, both in forcing myself to write short, self contained stories and in tying them all together into one greater narrative. Hopefully no longer than a month between chapters.
Annnd, that's it. Ask your questions for me, or a character, below and I'll edit the answers in! Can be about anything! (I do reserve the right not to answer personal questions though xD)
