Chapter 66

  Charlotte

  ***

Some time has passed since Evelyn went missing. Things have been getting strange… Those Shadows… They’ve been visiting me far more often. They’ve been speaking to not just me, but my parents as well. Not only that, but that training that The Twin Regents have been holding seems to be deyed indefinitely. I’ve heard nothing from either them or the other Saints. It’s just quiet. Too quiet

The day after the attack, I was informed of what happened. Evelyn’s house was attacked by some demons. Their leader was likely a demon general. As for why she was attacked, we don’t know. The twins have theories about some sort of game, but I don’t understand it. Furthermore, they are convinced that she’s dead. That is despite witness testimony.

The Twin Regents cim that she is dead, however I just can’t believe that. And it’s not just me. The Shadows, and Robbie believe so as well. The Shadows, due to some secret of theirs, and Robbie because of what he saw. According to him, right before the demon could harm Evelyn, she vanished. And the Demon seemed angry about it. How did he see this? He was there, and hiding in some nearby bushes. It wasn’t until after the demons disappeared that he was discovered. He told of all he saw, and the evidence seemed to support it. However that didn’t seem to change the Twins minds.

Not only that, but given how there was another demon attack on the city, things have been tense. Mom and Dad are considering leaving the capital entirely to head back to the territory. Whether we’ll be allowed to or not is yet to be seen. I am the Saint after all, and people don’t want to see the Saint running from danger…

Some time has passed since Evelyn died, and I’m not going to lie. I’m a bit freaked out by it. That didn’t happen in the game at all. As for that demon thing, no one knows where it came from. It managed to not only sneak into the city, but past multiple barriers and into a noble’s residence. Although it was seen by Robbie alone, and not one person was able to fight it. Not for a ck of trying, but it seemed to be able to put up barriers of its own. Impossibly strong ones. Only after it disappeared were they able to enter her estate. And again, the only reason we know anything about it is because Robbie managed to see it.

As for Evelyn and the staff, well… The less said about them the better. Although all members of the staff were recognized, not one of them was in any state to be looked upon. But what about Evelyn? No body, or pile of gore, could be identified as her or even her teacher. Some say that she’s alive, but let’s be real. She’s dead. That demon was probably one of the Demon Generals. I don’t think anyone save for Melody could face them on their own.

Speaking of Melody, where is she? Well, according to Lloyd and Lna, she’s out on business. Nobody seems to know when or where she’ll show up next. Hopefully it’s soon. I don’t like the idea of those Demons having the ability to do as they please. And it’s only a matter of time before Gokarul appears and asks for another duel. Hopefully she appears before that happens…

  “This suuucccckks!” I compined.

“I’m not the one who made the base all the way out here.” Angelica said, sitting on my head.

“Yeah, well I didn’t think the teleporters would be broken!” I said. “Why did Styx have to do that?”

“He was trying to kill you.” She said.

Currently we, rather I, was walking through the woods. Dressed in the same gear that I wore on the camping trip. Well, it’s not the same gear. I have been growing, so I made some changes. So now I won’t be exposing my ankles like some sort of “Sg” as Angelica would say. In addition to that, I had a small crossbow, it was enchanted, and a new and improved spear! As for why I was walking through the woods? Well, Styx’s st attack followed us and broke the teleporters. Here I was thinking that they didn’t need to deal with magical overload… So now unless I want to wait two months to fly back to civilization, I’ll have to walk. That said, I’m already a week into this walk, and the woods seem endless…

“Maybe we should have stayed…” I couldn’t help but sigh.

“We certainly have the food to do so.” She said.

“Yeah, but hiding away just doesn’t feel right.” I said.

“That’s true.” She nodded. “Let’s just think of this as a camping trip. Yeah, for your birthday, we’re going camping. How does it feel?”

“Not the worst birthday I’ve had.” I said. “I wonder if I’ll come across another body snatcher.”

“Hey, if I’m a body snatcher, then you’re an accomplice.” She said.

“I plead the fifth.” I said.

  “Yeah sure.” She ughed.

  ““…”” We walked in silence.

  …

  …

“When I get my powers back, I’m making a jet.” I said.

“Make it a two seater.” She said.

  “Can’t you fly?” I asked.

“Hey, I mean who wouldn’t want to fly in a magical girl jet?” She asked. “I wonder what it’ll be like compared to a normal jet.”

“I don’t know. I’ve never even been in a pne before.” I shrugged.

“You’re joking?” She asked in disbelief.

“Wait, does Santa’s sleigh count?” I asked.

“You’ve been in Santa’s sleigh!?” She asked.

“Only once. Boy it was a hassle getting up there. And then the bomb as well.” I reminisced on past adventures. “What a night that was.”

“Spill the details girl!” She said.

“Well, it all started when Santa was circling the Pentagon…” I began my tale.

  “Evelyn…” Muttered. “That girl… That monster… That murderer…”

She will pay… I’ll make her pay… She may have escaped me this time, but I will have my revenge… She… She may be out of my reach, but there are others here. Others who will do my work for me. Peering through their dreams, I saw them. Those with the power to turn the whole Empire against her…
